Auto Transmission Cooler

All,

I'm going to get a cooler fitted for the transmission - I kow lots of people have done this - can anyone let me know how much it cost - where they got the parts from - whether they bypassed the standard cooling or used it in-line. I'll be doing this imminently so all suggestions welcome.

If you look on the Z centre site, in the links bit from this site, there should be something there.

And tes a very good idea to get one, J spec boxes tend to cook over here without a cooler, all uk's have em as standard.

Here the link to lukes oil cooler page.

Berks no they don't mate, all cars have the oil cooler for the box inside the rad end tanks.

Sorry mac, ok I stand corrected.

The jap ones are just crapper than the uk ones then!!!

The only thing with the Z centre one is how to get it cleaned out from the engine oil - I'm not sure I'd believe you could ever get it clean enough not to contaminate the fluid as its got quite a strong detergent action.....

Change the transmission fluid (which you're gonna be doin anyway right) and use the 'old' stuff to flush the engine oil from the rad. Its strong detergent action should get rid of all traces of oil that the new fluid would flush back into the transmission system.

I'd never be confident to have cleaned it perfectly and any old debris still lurking is bound to come loose over time.....Nar - its really not worth the risk on that one.
