I am awaiting delivery of my JWT chip and boost jets and in the mean time have installed an aftermaket boost guage.

When running the car, the guage is only reading 6-7 psi. I have read some other posts regarding safety boost at 7psi but what this is, and how to i get it up to the stock 9psi before i install the new chip and boost jets?

do an ecu diagnostic & see if you've got code 34 (det sensor), this will put your car into permenant safety boost.

does it make any difference when the engine is cold/hot??

I will try the ECU Diag and it doesn't seem to make any difference hot or cold although i never boot it until fully warmed up....

Is this the read out on the new gauge or the stock one?

PSi reading is from new guage

Have done ECO Diag and DO have code 34 (det sensor), what do i do now????

Sorry ECU no ECO.... Doh!

This has been done to death, but basically, if the ECU isn't getting a signal from the det sensor, it plays fail-safe and assumes you have det - therefore putting you into safety boost.

Usually the harness or the sensor is worn out, but it's a bugger to replace due to location! (Lots of bits of engine in the way.)

It can also be bypassed, if you're confident YOU can detect the det - if you don't, and run with detonation for any length of time, bye bye pistons / cylinders / other such things.

i fixed mine by cleaning plug and spraying with electrical conact spray

(plug on det sensor wiring that is)
