I tried to get my car flat out yesterday. (It's a late model Jap non-turbo).

At about 130mph it seemed to be misfiring and wouldn't accelerate any more. It also seemed to be chaging between gears, or trying to at 130 too.

Any ideas what's wrong? I was going to change the spark plugs or try using Optimax.

hmm... i dunno then, maybe need to check if its been delimited as wel as converted then

I believe they are still limited by the ecu as well so that needs playing with from what ive read before, before you can get the full top end.

As standard it will be limited to 112mph (180kph) if the speedo conversion is done in one way then the limit will be raised to 180mph, if it's done by substituing UK spec clocks then the Jap ECU limiter will still take effect, although I would have to check the code to see what the actual number is.

I'm not sure how it was converted. I think something was added to make the kph unit read in mph. The clocks haven't been changed and the 'k' of kp/h has been removed to leave m/h on the dial.

What code is this AndyP and where do I find it?

Thanks again for the help.

That probably means you have a convertor box installed. In theory that should raise the limit to 180mph.

The code I referred to involves me taking one of my jap spec ecu chips and seeing what the speed limiter has been set to. Far too drunk to do that right now, perhaps during the week ... But I don't think that's your problem.

Don't worry about it yet; I'll try some other things first.

Thanks anyway though.

I have same problem. Still got Kph speedo, but has been converted to mph. It limits at 120mph, but it also limits early in 3rd and 4th. Very annoying. Jock suggested that chipping would sort this out.
