Got an auto tt z, when i get in the car & turn the heater on,

the w'screen immediately mists up, taking 20secs or so to

eventually clear, why is this?

This only happens when the engine has been previously warmed up,

not 1st thing in the morning.

exactly the same for me, but not always, u get in car screen is clean turn engine on and the whole thing mists up, no damp carpets, no coolant loss, could be condensation on the heater matrix maybe then warm moisture in air when u turn fans on hits cold screen fogs up.

Or could just be the moisture from your very own breath ;)

Thats easy - if you're pissed you can defrost a windscreen from 50 paces :D

 The cheque is in the post!........Honestly, was waiting for Ajay

to post an address!

Onto the matter in hand, same symptoms as Beermonster, carpets dry,

no coolant loss etc.....probably is the cold weather, don't remember it

happening in the summer, then again i didn't need to use the heating

in the summer!

It may be the a/c not working properly? May not get rid the moisture as quickly if its not 100%

Have you gone for long periods of time without switching the air con on?

Yeah, thats a possibility. Haven't used the ac since the summer.

I'll try it tomorrow, see how it goes!

the a/c should cut in when you press the demist button regardless of how high the temperature is set. If its workign properly then the screen should clear in just a few seconds.

the problem isnt with the screen not clearing, the problem is getting into a warmed up car with a clear screen, starting up and if the demist button is on the screen will mist up then take appx 20 seconds to clear again, if for example the car is cold in a morning and is already misted up, the screen clears no prob as it should do.

not sure, could be condensation buildup on the a/c evaporator, this shouldnt really be a problem though unless the water drain isnt draining properly. You should notice a small pool of water under the car when parking it up after having the a/c on for any length of time. Its always wet anyway these days so I guess you wouldnt notice.

i think this happens to most zeds on damp or wet days.

Dead simple solution to this, its taking 20 secs to clear cos the air cant get out the cabin, if you put your window down an inch or so and hit the demist button, it will fog up and then clear in a couple of secs.
