Morcambe council decided to improve their sea flood defences in anticipation of forthcoming bad weather. Inspectors had noticed several chinks in the sea wall and floodgates.......

I think this ia a humanitarian tragedy. The only good thing to come out of this has been that it has brought it to the attention of the public at large, which has forced the gangs who trade on peoples misery to improve their working conditions in the form of a pay rise. Apparently it wont be much, but it will help them keep their heads above water.

....Apparently the winkle picking contest was so successful this year, that next year Morcambe Council is opening it to all asylum seakers........

i think the only good thing to come out of this that is has bought into the pubic eye the existance of an actual place called Morcombe, until now a mystical land of horrors used to scare children into going to bed early. i remember as a kid being warned that if i didn't behave i would be going to Morcombe for a holiday.
