there is another question for all of you again;

I haven't drive my z for about a week, and now I can't even start the engine, I tried to start it up by connecting the battery to another car's battery, but it seems useless, and nothing I could do with it, any idea?

Thanks for all of you

any advise appreciated

yeah I was thinking the same errol, the right plugs are what, £20 each?

  • Author

yes, I think the plug I have now is crap, and I am going to put my HKS plugs back in soon.

  • Author

I bought the wrench for spark plug today, and I'll try to replaced it instead of HKS plugs tomorrow, let's see if it's help.

Also, what I need to do next if I replaced em and can't sort the problem?

Thanks

  • Author

I have replaced it already, and the code of NGK plugs is BCP6ES, I have only done five of em, as the wrench I bought which is not long enough to replace the middle of right hand side, is there any problem to done five of em only?

Also I haven't tested it yet, I'll test drive this evening, as too many cars on the road now.

Cheers

I have tested it already with 5 HKS plugs and 1 NGK plug, and the problem is still here, do you guys have any advise? or anything I can do at this stage?

Please help!!!!

thanks indeed

Feel for you Dickens , as mentioned before this was my car previously.

My only advice would be to have it towed to the nearest recommended Z specialist. It would be expensive but you would find out the problem and possible remedies. As I am an ex Z owner for a while now I wouldn't know your nearest expert. I took it to Jeff at ******** in Tamworth, Staffs.

The towing would be tricky/expensive unless you know someone with a trailer. I once had a car towed to Portsmouth ffrom Resadingf or an electrical problem , that was about 4 years back for around £80. The prices vary greatly, its worth shopping around.

Good Luck

You say it stumbles when "the turbos start coming on" - is this is every gear? Does it rev past that point once it's hesitated?

If it just won't rev past a certain point then you probably have an AFM problem and the car is in limp-home mode.

Your mechanic should be shot if it took him a week to diagnose a flooded engine. Even the little old lady in a Rover that stopped for me last time I had problems on the roadside asked if I'd just flooded it. (I hadn't, it was a dirty PTU.)

(Then again, since she was using words like "overrun" and "FPR" I think perhaps the Rover was not her only car!)

but it just cut off for about two seconds only when the both turbo is on, and after that everything is back to normal. Also I mentioned it before that it is running with 5 HKS and one NGK plug (the cheapest one in the world, lol), is it one of the reason that cause the problem I have got? I am trying to get the tools which will fit the plugs from my friends in these few days, I hope after I replace the plug from NGK to HKS, then all the problem will go away (my dream!!!).

To Dibrain:

Thanks for your reply, I'll take it to the z world or somewhere specific for 300zx, but before that I really want to try something to get it fixed, as you know I would like to spend as little as possible to get it repaired, so........... . anyway i'll let you know what is going to be.

Well to be honest when you own one of these cars you,ve got to be prepared to spend money on it when it goes wrong, dont take it to any old mechanic.

And smile when you spend like i do :D

if you have the socket to get 5 of the plugs out then there shouldt be any reason you cant get the last one out?!

  • Author

because the wrench I bought from Halfords is too thick and there is something next to the plug in the middle of right hand side, that's why I don't have enough room to get the wrench into the plug. (sorry about my english, but what I mean is I really tried everything to take it out, but it seems no way to take it out with the wrench)

I think I have to go to some local garage, and ask em to do it for me, as when the repairer replaced the spark plug to turn it over last week, I remember that they have a tool which is really easy to take it out and put it back in.

Big Thanks for all of you

if its the balance bar thats in the way( the black metal pipe that runs along the top rear of the plenum) then just undo it so you can get it.

  • Author

no, I have done the both plugs next to the balance bar (top left and top right), the one I can't get is in the middle of right hand side, so no idea how to do it myself.

Thanks for that
