Hi

Has anyone succefully colour matched for a Pearl White. I should imagine it would be quite hard to get a good match, what with 13 yrs weathering.

It's is the bonnet that is a slightly different colour to the rest of the car. Haven't got a clue why but it must have been replaced at some point. Maybe accident damage!?.

Cheers

If it is just the bonnet I dont think it would be accident damage. It could have got dented from something falling on it, or the paint pealed off, so it needed respraying. I know my bonnet was resprayed because it turned pink :(

LMAO Stu can you think of any more reasons? I'm just intrigued :D

Why not take your filler cap to somewhere for them to match it? ;)

LOL, thanks for the replys.

What about if the engine had blown and caused damage to the bonnet that way?!. :D

Who know's, but it is deffo a wrong match. Probably not that noticable to others but I know it is there so gotta get it sorted.

Do you think 13 Yrs weathering would have made much difference to the colour shade. I know when I polish then shammy you can see traces of the metalic paint on the Shammy...

Maybe, just maybe, the robot spraying your car at the time, got a virus and thought it would be funny to spray the bonnet a slightly different shade!!! Or maybe the guy left the aircon on for too long and it froze the windscreen, making him see the bonnet in a much whiter shade of white, so he took it to the garage and insisted they spray it slightly darker....... :D:D:D

Now your just being silly....

Funny reply though, lol :D

My bonnet looked screwed and I thought I needed to respray, I used auto glym paint renovator and it actually made my eyes hurt when I looked at it it came up so bright. (white bonnet)

I don't think paint should be coming off it though and I don't know if you should use renovator on pearl paint??

Is your the Super White?. I might try some on small patch to see what happens. I might consider a respray but gotta look into cost etc first....

Cheers.

Getting a colour match will be hard!

I've got a pearl yellow z, and some w@nker

scratched the wing!

Took it to Tony Payne in slough (He is top banana!), he

reckoned he'd have to spray the whole car for it to look

proper!!! Approx £2k.

You could try buffing it up with some cutting

polish, but probably won't make a lot of

difference.

It could have been resrayed black to make people think its a carbon bonnet. Its garunteed to add 30bhp and take 40lb of the weight. ;)

I was thinking the same myself. I have heard stories of trying to match pearl colours. Is 2K about right for a respray then  well I wont be doing that for a while. I could go for a carbon bonnet I spose, but I don;t think it would look very good with the current colour!...

Desicions desicions....

That price was just a rough quote (paint is £90 per ltr!), would

recommend him though (did a flip paint job on a mates golf, looked awesome).

Carbon bonnet is a good option, theres a guy on http://www.z32.co.uk

selling 'em, good price too!

Try zedworld, they break z's, may well have a pearl white one.

Gotta be worth a try!

I agree with Bob a woman clipped my Pearl Yellow Z about £50 worth of paint only damage, but the paint shop had to paint the whole car. :) cost her insurance company £2.5k maybee white is a little easier i do not know......

Hi Mate.

I also have a pearl white import (great colour when the suns out!). At some stage it was sprayed right around the bottom sill. Guess it was suffering from stone chips. The colour match is to be crap to be honest! Ive asked many sprayers over the last three years if they could blow the sills over, but none want to touch it. They all said It would need a full respray for it to match. As the rest of the paint is excellent Ive not bothered and just put up with it. Maybe try some breakers as you may find an original pearl white bonnet . Cheers

Andy

White is one of the more difficult colours to match, my bodyshop have done it on mine though, I would try the paint restorer first though, mine looked filthy even when cleaned, now its pure white again, you could feel the dirt coming off, it took about an hour to get it perfect.

Great stuff, I have got a few options to think about now.. :)

Cheers
