New key barrel question!

If I buy a new key barrel from Nissan, could I adapt it so that it would work with my original, by maybe dremmeling the tabs away?

    do you mean for the door lock or the ignition barrel. If its for the door then I have taken them to bits before and re-tumbled them from the original lock. And they work fine. It is a fiddley job though.

    Ps never done the ignition barrel. So wouldnt know about that one.

    No its not the ignition barrel, its the rear boot barrel! How do you go about retumbling them?
