hi all

just been looking around it seems from what i've found that the uk spec tt is the lowest power of them all???

uk tt man

280bhp@6400rpm

274lb/ft@3600rpm

usa tt man

300bhp@6400rpm

283lb/ft@3600rpm

usa tt auto

280bhp@6400rpm

286lb/ft@3600rpm

jap tt

280bhp@6400rpm

286lb/ft@3600rpm

so it seems that we have the lowest power 300 in the world

but i do know that the fuels are different in all three countries

uk

91-98/99 octane

usa

89-97 octane

japan

95-101 octane

You cant really say that the US is 300BHP. Some states the Z is illegal because of emissions laws. How mad is that? Is like us driving legallyin one county drive into another and now your car is illegal.

I swear the 1990 jap manual TT is 300 BHP

Im sure i read that somewhere

Let me know if im wrong

Fas

I think we will never really know the truth.

I thought they where all 300bhp except the Auto, which I read in a 300ZX sales book is 280 bhp. The 1996 ZX dipped to 280bhp because Variable Valve Timing was dropped. So the way I read something if the power drops to 280, it must be higher to start with.

The Nissan 300ZX was released before the 280PS came out in Japan and was expempt from it. However the Supra and GTO where released after the 280PS came out but where still allowed to release 320BHP cars.

The dyno runs of stock UK and Jap cars to lean towards the 280bhp as people are getting 250 ish at the wheel for a manual. I would expect more around 260-270 at wheel. But saying that the engines are old and not running like the did when they first came off the forecort nearly 14 years ago. So that would explain some power drop.

Hmmmm. This post was a little useless as it hasnt answered anything. ;)

Stuart,

California in particular has tougher emmision laws than the rest of the USA, but all that means is new cars sold by dealers in Ca. have to sell the california versions. It does not prevent someone in another state who moves to Ca. from driving his car that he bought in another state, (hich was not manufactured to Ca. emmision regs.)

John

red uk autos tt

by far the highest bhp

steve

Doesn't the 300 in 300zx TT mean anything!!!

Of Course it has 300BHP!

but it's all completelt imaterial anyway - just look at some of the dyno results that have been posted if you're in any doubt!

watch that Euro DIN bhp is measured different from USA SAE BHP - Basically Euro are bigger bhp or USA ones dont count water pump and ancilliaries loss - whichever way you want to look at it

Yeah,

....what he just said!

Americans are the pits man!

we have horses

they have mules

steve

Hi all

Like Faisal, I once read that the J-psec manual was 300bhp......

WillieO is right about the Yanks measuring BHP differently - remember the claims regarding their muscle cars? Those Mustangs may have 5 litres but they struggle to reach 200bhp in Euro tests.

Nigel, the "300" in 300zx means 3 litres (like 350Z is 3.5, 280zx was 2.8 etc etc)

I conclude as SRRAE did, we will never know the truth :x:

Oddly with the GTO, though, the early pop-up light version was 281bhp like the ZX yet despite the "gentleman's agreement" in Japan the later one (fixed h/lights) was quoted at 320bhp (albeit in the USA, again ;) ) and the J-spec Poopra was 280bhp owing to smaller tubbies than UK ones

At the end of the day, I don't care what BHP my UK zed really is, as long as it's fekking fast :hyper:

Richard :smw:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

According to Ray Hutton's "300ZX The Enthusiast's Companion" - the US manual TT is 300BHP, the Auto TT is 280 BHP. All the rest European and Japanese is 280BHP.

Geoff.

No the 300 means 3 litre.

The 240 was 2.4

260 2.6

280 2.8

280ZX 2.8

300ZX (Z31) 3.0

300ZX (Z32) 3.0

350Z 3.5

so where does that leave the 100 nx then?

so where does that leave the 100 nx then?

1.0 l??

anyway, as soon as you mod it it makes no difference anyway!!

so where does that leave the 100 nx then?

in theory 1.0litre :D

in theory 1.0litre :D

exactly.. so with the 100 200 and 300 it would seem to be more of a pointer to horsepower rather than engine size. AND i say 'a pointer towards it' before someone comes on here and says well i know for a FACT that the 200 has 187.35 hp.

i just said that! :slap:

one minute i was viewing the topic then before id finished riting my reply ud

beet me to it sorry must be just slow.

Can't comment on the 100nx (other than it's a hairdressers car  )

but the 200sx is 2 litres (s14, anyway - the j-spec s13 is called the 180sx and it happens to be a 1.8litre)

Remember the Z31 is also a 300zx (3 litre again) but that has nowhere near the bhp of our Z32s

Richard :)

Some distance behind. :D
