has anyone seen that max power video of those guys that go to the airfield and do the top end runs.

i found it quit funny.

the only guy to run the times he said he would was the sierra cossie, everyone else was way over what they said.

its funny how you think your car is so fast and then you go to do times and they are nowhere near what you expect.

Yeah! I read up on that Cossie and it's an animal!!

Anyone can talk about big BHP and top speed but it all comes to light on the drag strip or airfield when their cars don't perform.

Mine is the other way around though. Damn thing is much quicker than I first thought

:-)

Steve

lol yup thats the way i saw my car i thaught it was bog standerd when i baught it and boy was i wrong.

but before i quote stats i want to see for myself.

my zx was on the video yup the cosse was quick but we only had just under a mile to try and get a top speed not long for a heavy 300 what can yours do

eerrr having owned both i think you'll find the cossie is heavier than the 300 if it was the sapphire you were up against. next year when the beast is ready i'll show you wot a cossie killer is rest assured

i dont know i recon you guys from se were told your z's were making all sorts of horsepower, cause how else do you say you asre going to do 200mph over that distance and then ebarress the entire z community with a time of 151,

your guys figures were slower than those from a standard z car,

i'm not mocking you or anything but the video is proof of the pudding.

My Z hits 110mph at the 1/4mile after 13seconds. I don't think it's too much longer before it hits 160mph.

well thats my point

explain why the times of those cars were off

cause i thaught they were slow.

Heres some comparison times from a top speed run in NZ using approx 1km of runway.

The quickest Z got 250kph, just shy of a true stage 3 car (probably around 185kw @ Wheels). The quickest GT-R hit around 256ish and has about 240kW @ wheels from memory

The fastest car was a 930 turbo racecar

I lied.. sorry approx 2km of runway!

well all i can say is i have put my zx on a r& r and got 438hp at the flywheel - appox 100hp loss for auto

on the vid i got 0 to 60 in 5.41 and 0 to 100 in 12.69

the cossie 500 hp man shift app 55hp loss

at the wheels 0 to 60 in 5.33 and 0 to 100 in

9.69

you say it embarrasses the 300zx ers but i dont see you put your car to the test any time y not try it some time to see how quick your cars are over 1 mile from standing on a hot dry day b4 slaging off others its easy to say (my car feels fast ) i mean my kid thinks his roller blades are fast

jools you dont know me but last time i met you you treated me like im a big pric, im not the one making all sorts of claim's on a video that my car will do 180mph then does 151mph and then say ive got the traction controll on and in the next clip say the car is wheelspinning to much (you contradicted yourself) i have never claimed i would make those times, change who you take your car to and get it running as fast as a normall z300 (as i said i was not having a go at you but was trying to make a point)twat!!!

yup i appologise to jools, i took it out of context i was not meaning to have a go at anybody just trying to state something.

im sorry,

ok i would just like to say that on the day they asked us questions all day and i said that the max i have had was 180mph i did not say i would reach that in a mile. also the point about traction i have adjustable and tryed it on several settings now they cut & edit that vid how they want, i feel proud

that mags, vids, etc ask me to be there i love

the z and have great fun showing it.i will be sad to see it go

I think that one mile just isn't enough space to get a reasonable top speed. I would want at least a two mile stretch if it was me!

The cossie done very well with a 0-100mph time of 9.69seconds and I wouldn't want to be trying to catch him with times like that.

150mph isn't anything to be laughed at in that distance either. Remember, the Z weighs in at 1.5t and that counts for something when you have to stop!!

Also, regardless of bhp, the Z will only run a maximum possible speed at a maximum possible rpm. (unless you have modified gearing and differential) Even when modified over 400bhp, the benefits come through at mid range, not the top end!

Many of us already know that 180mph is achieveable and I know this from a reading on the AVC-r (ie. no error on the speedo)

The Z counts as a reasonably quick car in standard form and a razor sharp supercar when modified to the extent of some Z's on this forum!!

Just my thoughts......

Steve

So, who has the fastest "working" Z on this forum I wonder... (as in, first to the end of a 1 one mile stretch)...

This is before Adrie sticks his duel warp drive units into his engine... (not fair)...

And which ones can go round bends and stop at the end!

What you should be saying is "What's the highest speedo reading on public roads?"

I remember Rodders saying he got his UK spec off the clock on the M40.

If you've seen Rodders driving you wouldn't doubt it either.

I,ve bottled it every time I've hit 150mph.

i will take it to the max on any road after all isn't that wot a car of the z's calibre is about its designed to be safe and quick and any muppet can throttle it round a race track as you know nothing is gonna meet you the other way part of the rush for me is knowing you are on the edge but hey that's only my point of view and not everyone wants to go out with a bang at 180 and make the news headlines.

maby we should organize a dyno day, and a trip down to the nurburgring, for all the corner mad people.

i personally saw 175 on my clock in belgium and bottled out as the road was quite busy and i did not know if there were traps.

Okay - My Zs nowt to write home about in the performance stakes.

Johnys - Now theres a beast. FOUR men (not boys ;-) in the car, from the roundabout on a certain A road near us up to 170 mph in very little distance (probasbly about a mile!) NO PROBLEM, the car had more to give but the fastley approching junction meant the fun had to end.

Ive been in this thing at 180mph - Im convinced it will do more!!!

Oh yeah - and it sticks to corners like sh*t to a blanket - Johnys got the flared arches kit and hence the wider rear track. Some seriously heavy spacers and a huge spoiler also help keep the back end down.

And its all usable performance - y'know daily driver type thing.

Cheers

/\/\ark (Lusting after Johnys car ;-)

there's going out with a bang on an empty road, and then there's going out with a bang when you hit something head on that has a family and kids in it...

I would guess that's a good enough reason to throttle it more on a track than on the road for me.

That's not to say that i drive slow everywhere i go, because i don't, but i wouldn't want to be responsible for something like that....

A dyno day sounds good, get some real comparisons between cars...

Anyone fancy going to the Nurburgring right after Le Mans next year ?

the nurburgring after lemans sounds fantastic and it is so easy to get there,

i had the best time i have ever had in a car around that circuit it is the dogs bollocks.

im really keen on going back.

ill post some websites about it soon.
