Where abouts does the battery ground to ? The reason I am asking is that I am going to replace the cable and wondering what length it is and is it a standard ring terminal on the end that grounds to the chassis.

Thanks

It grounds onto the engine mate. The ground wire goes round the back of the engine and bolts onto the cylinder head. It then carries on to also ground onto the bell housing where the engine meets the gearbox. Presumably this extra ground is to aid the starter.

Still don't know understand what all this recent grounding fuss is about. For the engine to run well you need a decent ground to the thing that's providing the power. And that's the alternator. Working on extra grounding to the battery will surely only help the battery to charge itself.
