I was careless going round a tight corner, scraped the rear passengers side wheel then went over the kerb a bit. Am I likely to have done any damage? I keep reading about people who have slid and hit the wheel and done bad damage. Will a 'light' scraping at an odd angle mean I need the wheels tracking or something? or is it only the front that needs it? Back with another clueless question!!

I think it is unlikely you would have done any damage. Get it tracked and balanced again though.

There is a huge difference from a wheel rolling against a kirb and one which slid into it full whack side on.

Thanks. The bits that need doing are just starting to add up now...

So, where do you recommend getting the wheels tracked? Don't some people say Kwikfit just do any old thing and don't actually listen if you give them the figures. What should they be 'set' at?

I took my car to National Tyres once to get it tracked. Its done by lazer and the one I went to did it correctly and did a good job.

I have heard bad things about Kwikfit and ATS

Ok- cheers. I thought Kwikfit might not be the best option. I'll break out the yellow pages. tracking specialist? I did a search and some people have posted about four wheel tracking. Does this mean for HICAS or just cars with four wheels. and they do them all?

Anyone recommend somewhere (safe) round Birmingham/the Midlands to get the tracking done properly?

Means all 4 wheels.

Because TTs have 4 Wheel Steering, there must be a track rod on it which can be adjusted.

You will have to ask the place when you phone.

another quick thick question SRRAE- mines an NA, so doesn't have four wheel steer. Does this mean I just want 'normal' tracking?

NA dont have HICAS

But I think the rear wheels can be tracked. Im not sure.

Thanks for all that- will try phoning up a specialist somewhere.

had my tracking done after putting new wheels on at selecta tyre, did a good job and yes they do checkand adjust all four wheels so they normally charge double for their trouble, still only 30 quid though if it needs adjusting, cheeper than early worn tyres though.
