Hi all,

Does anyone know of anywhere in the NorthWest that has a conzult? I live in Bolton.

Heres the problem, I went to see Jeff at Zedworld today. He put me some new shockers on ( Its like driving a different car, the old ones might as well not been on!! This has cured my skip to the side when going over bumps by the way). He also put his Conzult on which told me that my Knock sensor was knackered. He explained everything in plain english and said he could put a resistor in that would fool the system into thinking everything was hunky dory. Its not a solution, I know that and he knows that but its better than safety boost! Anyway on to the real problem, at high revs my car seems to misfire, when we had his conzult on it showed nothing wrong, but I'm convinced if we had taken it for a run it may have shown something up. Its definitely rev related rather than boost related coz I've put it in 1st and gone up the rev range slowly and sure enough at about 4000rpm it starts popping and farting. I've asked this question before and take the advice about checking this and that (which I did as the conzult verifys). Jeff was perplex but couldnt spend too much time on the car as I turned up late, and he had another job to do. So any ideas or conzults in the Northwest, Jeffs place was a long journey(but worth it for the shockers).

Cheers

May be the MAS or PTU.

Give the connections a clean.

Have Grasshopper got one perhaps?

I was going to get one (good data logging toy too isn't it?) but a Z would get me through a time of no conZult better than a conZult will get me through my current time of no Z!

i did suggest a northwest group conzult buy, where we chip in and by one between us, could be handy! any takers?

How much are they? I have to admit I'm a bit of a computer nerd so that sort of gizmo intrigues me!

Bilky,

I'll have a look at that!

Cheers

SRRAE (is it Stuart?)

Doesn't the conzult log this? I'm sure it did, everything (other than the knock sensor!! (B*ll*cks!)) was in the green and nicely doing its business!

Where would I find these coz Im sort of experiencing the same problem

Scoopo, we did discuss that at one point and I think it's a good idea... start a thread in GBs maybe? We can discuss at the meet too...

Perhaps our area coordinator should be the designated Keeper of the Toy...

Are there any rules at Santa Pod about using logging equipment? Presumably not... although some sort of glovebox laptop mod would be required otherwise it'll end up in the back seats. :D

Guys, tell me if this sounds about right ?

Symptoms

Cold or warm at idle there is a little fluctuation very slight poping like a small misfire this is not on the beat as to speak but more of the car trying to clear it's throat kind of action.

If you accelerate slowly in the same gear everything seems ok but then the car seems to become slightly jerky like it's holding back on the power. In extreme cases, the car will hit around 4krpm and cut the power completely.

I had this problem with my car recently. I thought that becuase I have vents on the head light panel and bonnet it may be the MAS sucking in water as it's only just started happening recently in the rain season.

I changed the MAS but it did the same thing. I cleaned the connectors but the same thing again.

I thought about it for a while. When it cut the power (seemed ramdom) it always seemed to cut the power at around 4k rpm no matter what gear, so therefore it must be rpm related rather than air flow.

Anyway to cut a long story short (too late for that now :D), It did this again two nights ago. I pulled over and decided to test my theory. I left the engine running whilst I wiggled around with the tps, to make sure it was connected ok, it wobbled a little but no noticeable difference was made to the tone of the engine. I got back in and hey presto, the car had come back to life, a nice smooth idle with no poping and there was no longer jerking as I slowly accelerated up to 4krpm. this was the real test, but I kept on accelerating to 4krpm, then 5krpm then I though ok now for some wellie, accelerated hard up to 130mph and it flew no holding back, no jerking or loss of power.

So if your problem sounds like mine, then I would recommend cleaning the tps connector. I'm personally going to get hold of another connector and rewiring the whole thing as I'm sure that the brittle rubber seal is way past it's sell by date and I can;t wait to rip it open and see how greeen the wires are.

Stu: EXACTLY the same thing happened to me the other night, but it was at 4500rpm,

However it cleared itself up after about 20 miles. I believe I somehow flooded the engine or confused the ECU by flooring it at 30mph in 5th to check the clutch, will be giving the TPS a clean now though at the weekend as I sometimes experience the "cough" this may be what is causing my occasional rev problems in 5th gear.

have you reset your ecu since you fitted the induction Mike ?.

If not I would do it before the RR mate and let the mileage up there self learn itself.

SWM - sounds like my problem exactly, will have a look at that today. Though when I rev'd the engine at Jeff's place, the bar chart thingime moved up smoothly so dunno. Anything is worth a prod at this point!! :D

Cheers again guys
