As much as I'd like to buy another Zed... My funds are seriously short...

So...

Which motor should I get?

Obviously you can post any others that are within my 3k budget...

Cheers

Ben

Ben,

I used to own a manual (no comments!) 200SX S13, loads of fun for little money!! Great car and rear wheel drive.....You can pick them up quite cheap from SXOC board and most have aftermarket goodies fitted to them.....

i also had a s13

apart from 300s best car ive ever had

Honda CRX (not del sol). You can get a really nice one for £3k. I know they are small, but they are quick little cars. My mates got one, youd be surprise how similar they are to a 300zx (ignoring the engine)

you'd get an evo 1 for 3k, my mate has just bought two recently.

Nice cars.

Would have to say s13/S14 though, can get a good S14 for 3k, a shabby S14a or about 20 s13s LOL.

I reckon you'd struggle to get an half decent GTi-R for 3k.

Nice cars..

Where do they go on sale? i.e. what forum?

Cheers chaps

He got them from some auction place in portsmouth IIRC, maybe plymouth.

This is one of them, not sure if he bought this one actually, he bought one identical to this about 6 months ago, it came with decent coilovers & exhaust.

Evo 1. The yukiest of a range of yuk cars!

steve

Fiat uno turbo! At least its a turbo!

when is a car just transport?

when it doesnt have a turbo.

Or two

steve

none of the above ;)

always fancied a Lancia Integarale (or an S4 -hoopa!!), as it was the 1st real quick car i drove when i worked for them. or maybe a Lancia Stratos - yummee :) (shame they fall apart so easily :( )

yeah, well im just jealous cos ive got an NA.

he has 3k do they still make them new?

or will he need a dust pan?

Of your listed choices, I'd have to pick the MR2 turbo, if you can get one for £3000.

It may be just on the manly side of a hairdressers car but it's fast (about as quick as a Zed to 60, though wouldn't touch it to 100) and good mid-engined handling.

Otherwise I'd go with the flow and say an S13.

A better choice than the S13 is the Supra Mk3 single tubby. You could pick up a good one for £3000 and you'd get leather, a/c and most of the other luxuries found in a Zed. Apart from the weak head gasket, they are dead reliable too. I ran 2 over the 8 years before my Zed and never had any problems what so ever. (the head just needs to be torqued down an extra few lb/ft to avoid gasket failure).

They are fast too, 60 in 6.1 100 in under 16 and midrange grunt that makes the GTO look like a Fiat Panda :p

Richard :)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

S13 for me,

You can get a good one with mods for £2k, still quick, front engine / rear drive and you still get the turbo kick, what more do you want!!!

Rich ;)

Paul, I have only just read what your sig says.

Soooo funny! :D

For 3K I'd go for the GT4, top fun car. Also as mentioned MKiii Supe turbo.

Lanicia Intergrale for 3K? I take it your jesting. I had a 16V for a while, very nice, very quick, very very unreliable, very very very expensive to maintain. The belt change alone is thousands!

Toyota Mk3 Supra

Either the UK Single Turbo or the import 2.5 Twin Turbo.

Import is much faster and also has digital dash, removable roof, as an added extras.

I still got my uk 3.0 Turbo and have NEVER had any probs with it.

done belt changes myself on them :) its nice not having to pay for maintenance (just parts!)

I worked for lancia when the HF4wd was out & left just after the 16v came out :)

You should be able to get a decent S13 for about £1500, don't get an Auto though, mine used as fuch fuel as the Zed!
