Driving home Wednesday night last week and had my first truly scary moment in the Zed. Not 5 minutes from home, doing 50 on a (thankfully) deserted road and hit a patch of ice. Completely lose the back end, madly swerving all over the road desperately trying to get her back in line. Someone must've been looking out for me as I managed to straighten her up without hitting anything...Really shook me up though as I'm all too aware that if someone had been coming down the otherside of the road I'd have been in serious trouble.

Anyway, this finally gave me the wake up call to chuck out my sh1tty Jap compounds and get some decent rubber and today my Toyo Proxes T1-S's arrived. Not quite traction control but I'm going to have a helluva lot more grip than before!

The black ice is catching us all out at the minute it seems! Glad you (and the car) were only shaken.....not stirred!!!:hyper:

A few of us haven't been so lucky of late!! :(

I've had this Zx for three years and feel the best tyres I've ever used in the winter are Bridgestone SO2's. Best wet grip tyre in my opinion.

I 2nd that. The SO2 tyres are amazing. Grip better in the wet than some do in the dry.

However, the only tyres which will help against skidding on ice are studded ones.

Stu, I know that against ice they aren't going to come off best, I just feel a lot happier now I'm rolling on something with half decent tread. I've used Toyo's before and always found they had superb grip. Anyway, after reading about so many other people on this forum getting into major trouble on the roads recently I'm still just incredibly glad me and the car came away from it unscathed...all too aware that others ain't been so lucky :(

Leigh.

I agree Proxes are great.

It does frighten the sh** out of you when the car goes sideways.

Geoff.
