Started the car this morn, got out and locked it but left it running to warm it up. Went back into house and drunk my coffee whilst watching out the window. . . . .

 

Next thing a lad either side (about 20ish I would guess from height), trying to jack open door handles. Banged window open and shouted they ran off. Jumped in car and gave chase but lost them (coz there's little alleyways everwhere down our road).

 

I wish I'd taken more notice of what they were wearing rather than screaming out at them.

 

If I catch them - I'll do a proper job (not like the police will do and slap their wrists.)

 

Im now thinking of getting remote start so, if they get in and touch accelerator the engine dies - that way It'll give me a few more seconds while theyre trying to get out of the car to find that baseball bat . . . . .

What about remote dead-locks, so once they are in there you can lock 'em in, get a bat, gaffer tape, transit van and find a deserted water way to drown the little rats!!!

Glad to hear they've done no damage. That's the thing that's always puut me off remote starts is that some little scrote would break into the car thinking they could drive it off. I know the engine would cut out but they would have already damaged the window/door/locks.

Yeah the police have been warning about leaving cars running to warm up in the mornings - lots of cars stolen that way.

I would go further. I think the only way to sort these antisocial little B***ards out is to have public retribution. Ya know like the stocks in the town square, or nailing their bol***cks to to town hall flag pole. When they'd been in the stocks for 48hrs, pissed on by dogs and drunks, had kids throw dog shit at em and much worse. They wount be in such a hurry to be naughty.

Different approach ;) 90% of the time they come back, so set the trap :) Start the engine, lock the doors, but lie in the back under a blanket, blowtorch at the ready ;)
