Chaps,

More specifically SteveE and Maceij, because I believe you have Techtoms, (though not Tim because he doesn't have a car!).

Having tried out my brand new toy on the drive home today I have noticed two things and I wonder whether it's the same on yours.

Firstly, the second Air Flow Meter (AFM2)voltage displays nothing, the first one is OK, I presume this is because there is no second voltage to report ?

Secondly, the Intake Temp (ITEMP) reports nothing, this is a little more curious as I thought the ECU had a sensor and would need to know the air temp.

Lastly, and this is just an observation, the Techtom speed display in Kph corresponds to my speedo speed in Mph. I presume this is because mine is an import that has been converted to Mph.

Thanks for any insight.

Andy,

1. There is only one MAS voltage read by the ecu.

2. There is no intake temperature sensor on the Z.

3. The speedo conversion changes the signal before it reaches the ecu so kph on your techtom is infact mph

that all sounds dodgy, my unti will have everything lol

Another dumb Techtom Q.

Mine also displays AAC(%)which is obviously the Auxilliary Air Control valve and BCSV (On/Off). What is this ? Could it be the E.G.R Control Solenoid Valve (or the PRVR CSV or the AIV CSV or the Wastegate Valve CSV) ??

The documentaion that arrived with it doesn't mention either the AAC or the BCSV, the US Importers page doesn't either and the Japanese manufacurers page uses an image which doesn't get translated by Babel Fish !

Inspiration anyone ?

...and I'm monitoring this with interest, Andy, cheers mate for doing all the leg work! LOL!

Mind you, you do have a distinct advantage over me so I should stop taking the piss...you've got a car.

Tim

;-)

Tim,

You spoken to SE recently?

The Zoid must be nearly ready now m8??

Glen.

Tim's car was actually finished 2 months ago but me and Crazy Eddie (probably SE's nearest Z customers) have been taking it in turns to thrash it to work and back !!

wink.gif

I am sure Tim will appreciate it so much that you two have so consideratly 'run-in' his new motor, perhaps if you ask him nicely he'll get you a crate of Stella with the nifty he owes me;-)

Least he could do eh

hehe

Glen mate, I love the smiley, gangsta stylee!

Andy mate, you know how to hit where it hurts...LMAO!

Crazy Edmund made it today didn't he with Pete. Pete of all people, what's he doing taking a day off when he should be working on my car. It'll take a record breaking event just to move the Z graveyard to get my poor thing out from SE! I've put the Captain Kirk up for sale, want my car back...and the only way to accomplish that at this moment in time is to sort out my house move ASAP!

Tim

;-)

Glen, did you go today? Did ask you this on your other post matey??? You said that you were raZZing it back to the Isle of Tights to get the Z beast??? I'll get you a beer mate when we finally meet up...what about Blackpool??? I've decided to prop Matty up for the day after he's had a sniff of a Becks as I won't be able to stop-over, got to get back for the kids(RottenWeillers!) and feed them some Playground Chum! LMFAO!

I was met with smiling little faces all ringing to the chorus of "awww you haven't got to go again alreadyyyyy frown.gif"

So I spent the day on the boating lake in a 5 man pedal powered plastic swan with the sproglets

I ask you.!!! I am such a soft old sod.

Never mind next year eh!!

You should just about have the Zoid back from old Skylarry Pete by then Tim LOL;-)

What is going on in Blackpool tho?

Black Adder: "We've invited a man that can drink everybody else under the table, but he couldn't keep up with me and passed out after seven flaggons of Mrs. Bagshots finest, so you see, what they really meant was he had just awoken from his slumber...hence 'Great Boos up Edmund!'" LMAO!

Does what it says on the tin mate, f**kin' piss up and then onto the Large One for a chuck-up sesh!

Q: Are you gonna come and support me and Mat-Lad???

A: Yes you are!

Back to BCSV ....

I have discovered that the Techtom displays BCSV ON whenever the throttle is open and OFF when it is closed. Any ideas ?

Found the answer from TwinTurbo.net as posted by Henri (Our Father, who art in Switzerland).

The question was :-

Given a normaly functioning Detination sensor we cannot determin from the ECU when the car actuly PINGS. Can we figure this out utilizing and MDM-100?

But the answer tells me everything I need to know :-

Yes, the Techtom displays the value of the BCSV command line, for Boost Control Solenoid Valves (i.e. the guizmos putting the car in safety boost mode)

BCSV = OFF --> Safety Boost Mode

BCSV = ON --> Yahoo mode....full boost

The BSCV are going OFF if....

Engine temp is below 60°C

The ECU considers the engine idling (i.e no depress on the accel)

There is a sensor problem

The engine is under detonation

Basically, it means that...if the engine is warm, the det sensor is ok, and you depress the accelerator, and you get a BCSV = OFF....you have a problem.

Please note that having the BSCV=ON does NOT means that you do NOT have a det problem....because the ECU will stop listening to the det sensor if the RPM are above 3500.

I shall be testing this on the way home !

The final question - how do you set it to 'optional graphic mode' ? The somewhat brief instructions with mine do no cover this ....

The followings instructions will allow the TECHTOM MDM-100 users to have there display show a

graph!

Here is how you do it:

---------------------------

First press and hold the SELECT button down.

Next stick your key in the ignition and start the car.

Once the car is started you will see on the MDM-100 display show "CODE" or "Graphics"

At this point you want to scroll up to where it says GRAPH.

Once GRAPH is shown press the SELECT button to select that mode.

It will then ask for the CODE: The CODE is 0123456789

To enter this code you simply use the UP or DOWN buttons to scroll through the digits. Once you

find the digit, press the SELECT button to enter the number. You will do this for each space given

until the entire CODE(0123456789) is filled. Once the CODE is filled, you will see the GRAPH appear!

Thanks Henri from me to you mate!

Although AndyP is asking all the questions, this will all help me aswell. Nice one.

Tim

Thanks Henri. Funny how that is mentioned in the sales blurb and yet not in the single sheet of destructions that I got. Maybe some of mine was missing ....
