just drove the z and now it sounds like when you rev a radio controlled car.i last drove it a week ago and it was fine then..

it happens when i accelerate.if i stop, turn of the engine, then start it again its fine for a while, then i get this weired noise like an electric motor, with a slight hiss, not sure if the hiss was road noise as the road was damp.this is more alarming than the previous compressor sound i mentioned before...help:confused:

Could be the aircon compressor. To check if it is, switch the ECON switch to on (this disables the aircon compressor) if the noise stops it's the compressor on the way out.

This may seem weird, but what stereo do you have?

I have a JVC cd system and I get this sort of noise on occasion. It worried the 5hit out of me but after a couple of days I noticed it only did it with the stereo on:confused:

I figured, with a little help from some of the guys here;) , that it must be a bad earth. Still not fixed it yet....................

Richard;)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Similar noises on mine were also the stereo - I think because it's right above the AVC-R in the dash. Can't listen to MW at all cos the display generates so much RF noise.

Sometimes I'll get slight speaker hiss on any band - like the man said, a dodgy earth will turn the whole speaker circuit into a radio reciever!

THE NOISE HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED,ITS MY AUTO BOX.IT NEEDS TO BE STRIPPED.TORQUE CONVERTERS GONE......

To change the torque convertor the autobox has to be removed but not stripped/rebuilt!

Thinks.. however, if the torque convertor's disintegrating it'll have contaminated the oil with bits maybe it will need stripped.
