What should you do when you think you've just written off your Z?

What do you think guys?

Had quite a bad spin out on the way home today from work...

Coming round a left hand bend, back end flipped out from me and I went spinning...

About 3 times I think

The car is quite damaged.

Front bumper grazed, wing, rear bumper, rear light cluster(electrics), rear O/S wheel bent in (meaning the wishbone etc is bent), both tailpipes, and a 4 inches of tree stuck in the boot!!

I feel like sh*t!!

- What I've done -

After the accident the farmer came out and started raving about his hedge (which I took out in places - twice). I have signed a piece of paper saying I skidded and took out property owned by him and he is going to give me a price on repair (just in case I don't want to go through the insurance) - Only a thought!!

I did try to drive the car home but after a short distance thought, I don't want to risk it and what the hell would happen if someone went into me? No more risk I thought...

It's now stuck 50 miles away and I'm gonna get my insurance company to sort it out.................

Anyone has any ideas or thoughts or suggestions, please reply.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, just needed to talk...

Thanks

Ben

P.S. I've just realised I've got targa blinds!! (took these and the targa bags out the car when getting my stuff out before the relay guys took it!)

Sorry to hear about that mate, I'm sure the insurance will do there stuff. At least you did not go into anyone else so the insurance won't have to foot any personal injury claim. Should help next years premium a bit.

I reckon the price would be way to silly to even contemplate going it alone. Who knows what you might find when the car goes up on the ramp. I would doubt if it is written off though.

As for the farmer.......

What an insensitive *******!!! Hedges do grow back. It probably needed a good cutting back anyway. He should be paying you for the trim!

Hope you get things sorted out to your satisfaction mate:)

Justin

know how u feeling ive been in the same situation with a mk2 supra tho,

on a brighter note, andyz or other forum members can sort u out with the bits relatively cheap, so u could possibly do a deal with the insurance co and get it back on the road in no time

really feel for you mate. I did a similar thing to my first zed hitting railings by a bus stop. What I did afterwards was drink quite a lot of beer.

The up side of my story is that my insurance agreed a realistic valuation and paid up promptly and I'm back zedding again.

Hope it all works out OK

David

 sorry bud :(

Thanks all,

Suppose I'm glad I didn't just SH*T myself and sit there crying my eyes out!!!

Suppose it could be worse...

Ben

Could be a good time to get her kitted up. Look at it that way

OMG sorry to hear that mate. Sounds bad, look at it this way atleast no1 got hurt. I say you let the insurance sort it out.

I paid nearly a grand for my damage when i hit a kerb.

Hope you get it fixed soon.

I hope the rest of you guys realise to take it easy out there on the roads especially in winter weather.

Cheer up mate

Fas

I see plenty of accidents where they don't get out and walk away!

You're still alive and healthy, cars can be fixed, and you haven't hurt anyone else!

Enjoy this day, somebody did you a favour!!

sorry to hear that mate, but at least no-one was coming the other way!

Bad shit mate! - but it's probably not going to be as bad as you think mate.

After the wife bent our Rover a few weeks ago, the car just did not feel right but in the end it turned out to be that the tracking had been knocked out by 5mm.

I'm not saying that it will be as simple as that on yours as you have body damage but try to stay positive.

Hope all works out ok for ya!

Cos

HI Ben,

- sorry to hear about it - at least no one was hurt.

do what i did when i wrote off my zed - get drunk - have a cry - claim on the insurance and go and buy another with traction control.

Regards,

alex

Just read all this, very sorry to hear it m8.

Bloody insensitive farmer, had the same myself, had a member of the local fox hunt , on his horse, have a go at me about the hedge. Saying about bloody town folk racing around in the country!!! As it was i'm very famililar with the country, i work in it, and was driving a 4x4, so i told him to F*** OFF!!!:D Stupid Tos**r, if he was that bothered about the countryside, why go round killing innocent foxes then, tw@

Dave

:( Sorry to hear this bud but glad you are unhurt.

Just got to wait now I guess and see what the insurance co. says.

Keep us updated.

Lifes a bitch sometimes. Look on the bright side, it could have been much MUCH worse! You walked away with potentially a dent in your pride and possibly your pocket. And I'm afraid I would have told Farmer Giles right where to stick his fence!

Keep your chin up mate

One good thing to come out of this is that due to your comment above, I've been laughing my arse off for the last few mins. I had a few "incidents" in my youth and I know that feeling well, l couldn't have put it better!!

I stuck my car through a dry stone wall once (had to rebuild the wall in Feburary, effin cold) and was soo pissed off I threw my keys at it and ran up the road screaming. Locals thought I was a nutter and called the cops who breathalised me!

Seriously mate, these thing have a habbit of sorting themselves out, keep your chin up.

..and no-ones told you off for upping the Zed insurance for us all!

You young lads that go around bashing your cars up - I don't know.

Maybe it's a bit too powerful for you and you should get something more manageable with your insurance payout!!! Nissan do another car called a M I C R A you could try!

(PS> this is intended as a bit of light hearted banter! - don't take it too seriously!!!:D )

Hey up Nigel...

Just because I'm pushing the Zed a little more than you doesn't mean I some complete idiot, that gone and bashed his car up....

I'm just practising :D :D

************ Update *************

Feeling alot better thanks guys.

Still waiting to hear from both the insurance company and the farmer (:xxx:)

Lots of things still buzzing around my head...

At worst, may have the zed written off, then get it repaired on the cheap - EXTREMELY MODDED -

Now that's more like it!!

Will let you know, when I do...

Ben

So you pranged your car, big deal, you have insurance so go and buy a better one.

You are OK nobody was hurt, just think of the shit people go through everyday with bereavement and having to cope with terminal illness, I would take a dented Nissan everytime over that lot.

Just thank your stars and go and buy a copy of autotrader.

The guy was just asking for some advice.

I hope when you need help with something you get an equally helpful reception.

This isn't a bereavement and terminal illness forum.......its a 300zx one.

FFS Mick  Nobody's comparing bad luck stories here, lay off for Gods sake :(

Ben's bashed up his car, and is understandably gutted, just because there are worse things in life doesnt mean he's not allowed to express emotion over this

Why not take your own advice...

Pete

Do you know what!!!!!!!

There are some people on this site who can be so rude and out of order.

The guy is obviously upset (i would be 2 & was when i had my accident) but this is a forum for Zeds.

So maybe next time if you've got nuffin nice to say then maybe you shouldint say nothing at all.

Just my 2pence worths.

Fas

:nono: Bit uncalled for, MickG. Spezer wasn't exactly bewailing the end of the world - he'd just had an accident and was understandably upset at crashing his car. A little sensitivity wouldn't go amiss.

Spezer - know how you feel - your Zed probably will be a write-off, unfortunately, but hopefully just a C-Class one, which means that you can get it back and mod it to the hilt. :)

Glad you're ok.

Keep us updated with what happens. :)

I think you guys are wrong, if he or his family had been hurt in the crash that's fair enough to moan about the crash, but just because a car gets a bit dented and its insured, so what.

My point is you shouldnt expend emotional energy on trivial things, keep them until the biggies hit your life and then you realise how pathetic it is moaning about a simple car shunt, of which I have had several.

Last year I suffered a long hospital stay and a death so I know from bitter experience about what real shit life can throw at you.

I dont wish the guy any ill feeling and hope he gets back on the road soon but I just wanted to let him know there are worse things in life.

Mick, are you passionate about anything?

Most of us are on here.......about the car we own.

You don't seem to be........which makes me wonder why you are even on here?

Of course there are worse things in life but as I said this is a forum for 300's.
