My son wants to start driving shortly when he turns 17. He wants to use the Z but obviously that's out of the question.......for several reasons :D

I've been hunting around and getting anywhere between £4.5k and £2k for a Seat Arosa (Grp3) or similar (VW Polo etc).

I don't want to get him a complete sh*tter - anyone have any suggestions ? Apart from 'Get the bus' :D

Ford Ka? They're only group 3 and IIRC there's a 400bhp drag Ka in the UK:D

I remember first seeing a Sierra and thinking 'Shit that's ugly' but it kind of became normal after a while..........

Not convinced the Ka (Kack) will ever be anything but ugly.....mind you with 400hp I could be persuaded :D

Isn't the cheapest car for insurance the Uno or Punto!

I know it ain't brilliant but it he only has to drive it a couple of years and then he can upgrade!

Or why not buy a new car with free insurance chucked in?

He is more than likely going to prang this car, so a reliable cheap runabout will be less painful to hit than a car that's already costing upwards of £2K in insurance.

It's only for a year or so to get some NCB to his name and then he can start to upgrade.

LOL...I can honestly state that I didn't have an accident for the first 7 years of driving. :p

But to be fair, as a learner driver on today's roads, it's more than likely he will prang it. Not necessarily crash it, but bump it into something as he learns the car's dimensions.

And note use of "more than likely". Means it's not certain, but has a greater chance of happening than not. :p

MINI's are pretty cool , easy to play with and fix and good fun to learn in , also pretty cheap to insure , errrr how tall is your son as this option sort of goes out of the window if your 6ft +:D
