north east location for timing belt and service

After listening to a horror story about a colleagues Alfa snapping its timing belt over the hols this has jumped right up my list of priorities! All I have is a verbal assurance that the belt was done "about 17,000 miles ago".

Anyone know a place that they trust round Newcastle, Sunderland, Durham that has done this sort of stuff and doesn't cost the earth?

Cheers

David

Is it possible to check the condition of the belt without taking much of the car apart?

thinking back i remember having to take radiator fan shroud off

and fan then the timing belt covers will need to come off

a simple enough job if you have the tools and time

and a garage or dry day.

if you want piece of mind get it changed anyway
