My boot is that heavy to open my missus cant open it - this means I have to keep getting out the car to unload the shopping :(

Is it just the 2 hydraulic lifts that need replacing - if so does anybody have any to sell?

Cheers

Have you got the original spoiler?

If so, it may be full of water. I had mine replaced with a lightweight spoiler, and the difference is amazing.

Hi Jason

Have you removed the weight from the boot??

It makes a massive difference

Kirbz

where is the weight?? as mine is well heavy too:confused:

The spoiler is very very heavy. When I removed mine to replace it, I struggled becuase the pistons lift it up so much.

Dont forget you physics at school. Force = MASS x Distance. Its a very heavy spoiler at the end of a long boot lid.

Stuart

When its v cold the supports often fail to hold the tailgate, I guess because the air inside is less dense.

Pete

Can certainly go with the spoiler thing.

The day I picked mine up after it had its low level spoiler fitted, I wrenched on the boot as usual with the final result of smacking myself in the jaw......yeah it hurt but no-one saw......

:slap:

Replacement spoiler is a defo must IMO...even if you go with a fibreglass replica or tailgate skin

When I took the spoiler off mine, I turned the key to unlock the boot to find it whizzing past my nose without having to touch it.

Stuart

yep that spoiler weighs a ton,

i have just fitted the tailgate skin and fiberglass

spoiler and the difference is amazing !!

the boot lid just flie's up with no effort at all!!

Theres actually a weight in the spoiler as well so this can also help

Are you talking about the counter-weight for the rear wiper, or is there one in the spoiler too?

PS not that I'm worried as I have no rear spoiler, no rear wiper and no counter-weight:rofl:

Yeah I agree after I had the old rear spoiler removed the boot was alot lighter.

Geoff.

Yup,

I agree with the spoiler thing.

Mine is soooo much heavier since the rain set in.

Fibre-glass jobbie from Z centre is the next project, I think

Richard:)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
