anyone know what size socket I'm going to need for the rear wheel bearing lock nut? Though I best check before I start the job!

I think it is a 32mm. But I could be well wrong :(

thought it was 36mm :confused:

Have a feeling you might be right Paul, my socket set goes up to 32 and I'm sure it was bigger than my largest one. Didn't start the job yesterday anyway, ended up going to see The Return of the King instead - fantastic!

 

anyway, another question. I was reading the service manual again on the procedure for changing the wheel bearing. It says you should remove the entire axle housing. Is this essential or can the bolts for the wheel bearing assembly be undone with it in place?

 

If it does have to come off, is there any problem with the suspesion ie do I need to be worrying about spring compressors or anything like that?
