Hi all, want to get an alarm fitted and having rung around a few local companies i have been quoted for the following, Sigma M30, Toad A1606, Clifford Concept 300 and GT Autos 636/444. Any of you got these fitted or know someone that has, I would like to know how reliable these units are and how good they do the job, any comments would be gratefully recieved, cheers, Richard.

Matty.

Richard I have a Sigma M30 and have no problems at all mate , never let me down , not so many fancy functions as some of the others

I have a Toad alarm on my car, I have had the car 7 months and not a single problem. I think Toad are one of the leaders in the car alarm buisiness.

hi i have a clifford alarm that when its set if it is attacked txts my mobile for me to tell me some thieving git is after me pride and joy

I have a META alarm and it has never given me any trouble. It didnt even give the people who smashed my door handle off trying to get in any trouble. Or the people who ripped the rear spoiler trying to get at the lock. It also didnt give me any trouble when I opened the boot and climbing into the rear seats with out setting it off, and no trouble when I am sure I locked it but find it open the next morning, dispite the alarm meant to have an automatic locking timer on it.

The alarm alone cost me £250 I then found that I could have got a Toad immobiliser and alarm from Bob for a little more than that.

I would go for the Toad 606I I think it is, if it is still being made. Its the one I wanted but the Toad web site said RRP was £460. Bob offers a lot less than that.

I bet you get a lot of text messages then. ;) Or is your Clifford not as paranoid as the others?

Go with Toad, most reliable of the lot, i have dealt with Clofford, Meta and GT but for reliability stick with Toad.

thanks for all your feedback guys, i think i will go with the Toad alarm, will speak to Bob and get it sorted, all a great help as usual ..

Just one piece of advice - use Bob if you can. I used a local guy who a friend recomended (And Bob couldn't make it down) and they never put a switch on the boot, left wiring uncovered and I keep getting false alarms:rolleyes:  Bob knows what he's doing!!!!

Yep, Toad AI606

Had one on my supra, got one fitted to the zed.

brilliant bit of kit with a lifetime warranty

Hi all

To add another contender I've got an Avital MAXX3.

Yes I know they are made by Clifford but they are probably better as you get all the good features without the frills that go wrong, at a good price.

Mine was fitted with window closure for £350 all in by a company in High Wycombe, Bucks. They did a top job too.

Richard:)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
