got a problem with clutch while driving when i went for next gear pressed clutch it went straight to floor and did not return, lost all pressure looked in resovoir and it was drained.

checked underneath and could see the slave cylinder had popped out which means the clutch arm had no pressure to keep it in place obviously something has gone inside clutch, is this a common problem if so what has happened.

the clutch was working perfectly before this happened.

had some quotes for a new clutch fitted, quite a hefty bill

would the thrust bearing have caused problem because it did make a bit of noise when depressing pedal if so could be cheaper way out or would this not be cost effective

p.s anyone know of a good garage that knows these cars in county durham cheers

Hello Mate,

It is quite common for the Clutch pivot ball to fail or not as common the clutch arm!

I believe Smithy (traders section) can get hold of these, talk to him regarding clutches as he is the importer for RPS!

If you are planning or have any mods to your car then it is advisable to get an upgraded clutch!

An upgraded aftermarket clutch pivot ball is available and it won't break the bank, I believe you can get an upgraded clutch arm as well don't know the price.

Talk to smithy about local fitters or PaulG he is up that way and should know someone Local!

Also have a look in the FAQ section where I have written a guide of things to do when the gearbox is off.

thanks for that info mark,

gonna check it out now

Forgot to say, you can a stock clutch from Mike Feeney if you want to keep everything as is, but get an upgraded CPB as these are a well known fault!

is there an inspection plate that will let me see what the problem

was, as i was wondering if it was the cpb could it be fixed with the gearbox still in.

i need to cut costs with it been this time of year so cheapest option would be best.

what price are these stock clutches or where do i find mike feeney on this site.

cheers

Had my pivot pin shear on my S13 200sx a long time ago... exact same symptoms. Clutch to the floor, slave cylinder popped out, clutch arm loose. But clutch engaged all the time.

When i upgraded my clutch on my Z32 earler this year, i replaced the pivot pin as a matter of course, 2 min job when the gearbox is off lol

Got it from Nissan, I think it was around £6 inc VAT... so for that price, not really worth skimping on.

Oh, and when you put it back, put a TINY smear of coppaslip on the ball, just so it wont seize up with the clutch arm for quite a while.

HTH

Robert

Hi Dunk,

It is not the fact that the arm seizes on the CPB, but that it is not up to the job, even on a stock clutch!

I think some members on here have had several go!
