Do all 300zx TT have the cockpit adjustment shocks? if so what sort of adjustment do they provide and where are the adjustment switches located.

Ive just test driven a 1991 imported 300zx tt and couldn't find it.

Thanks

Only the US has a sports and touring setting for the suspention. I think it turns the suspention from very squidgy to squidgy as Americans like their suspention nice and soft.

The Japanese 300ZX (Fairlady) has harder suspention which is not adjustable.

UK 300ZX had the hardest suspention and the rear is adjustable but stiffens up automatically when you drive. You can make the suspention activate by pulling up the hand brake 1 click.

Nope, the JDMs don't have it.

Yes the US models have switchables all round.

Yes the UK models have the handbrake switch which firms the rear shock absorbers up.

But the wiring diagram in the manual shows no connection to the ECU and no-one has ever found a reference about how the rear shock actuation "stiffens up automatically when you drive". The actuators certainly aren't connected to anything which would do this.

Actuator controller/ecu get it's signals from the HICAS ecu.

Actually the US spec suspension is far from "squidgy"

The "touring mode" is very similar to the EURO spec's stiffness, the "sport mode" is harder then the Jspec's suspension.

Agree with Eric on this. Wiring diag shows wires 26 and 27 from HICAS controller to shock absorber actuator.

Its still a mystery to me under exactly what conditions they switch over. Possibly at high speed only.

I guess I'll never know until I wire in a light on the circuit.

Incidentally some of the imports coming in must have really soft or worn out shocks. I just followed a silver G reg NA cross country at some speed in my "other" car. I backed off because the rear of his zed was all over the place on the bumpy stuff and I was worried he'd do himself a mischief trying to get away from my boring but turbo'd family saloon.
