Here's a post from some in the U.S about his drag strip event in his 96TT with stock ecu.

Even Malcolme Lowes' nitrous powered Z has only ever managed a best of 12.8 on the 1/4 mile at Santa Pod, and that's the quickest any UK Z has ever run! READ ON >>

It started off as a typical day at the drags for me. two back to back 13.2's with 2.2 60 foot times. But this time my mph was up to 109. So that was a good point.

Then a horrific 13.9 @ 105mph. All sorts of shit went wrong there.

Now, eliminations.

Dialed in at a 13.0.

Ran a 13.1 @ 108mph with a 2.1 60 ft, with a slight let off at the end to not break out. Fine, I can live with that.

Then a 13.0 @ 100mph with a 2.1 60 ft. A quick hard stab on the brakes

Next I have to run this insane rx-7. The guy ran a 11.92 @ 118mph before our run. I come out of the hole hard with pretty good traction, 2.0 60 ft time. I get about

1/2 track take a look and there's now way he's catching me. Turned out that he bogged and missed a gear. But at the end of the track I lift and gave a good stab of

the brakes, cuz the run felt strong, then I see the other side lights light up. What?, I lost.

Get to the ticket window,

I ran a 12.88 @ 100mph!!!!!!!!!! (Low mph cuz of the brake)

I probably would of had a 12.78. I know, I can't speculate, but damn she felt strong.

Needless to say I'll be there next week to try and back all this up.

Take care,

Mike

What are his mods?

Doesn't sound very likely, what does he have to get the fuel into the engine correctly?

high 12's / low 13's very much possible. So long as you don't go stupid on the boost the stock ECU will handle a "little" extra. Couple that with slicks and VHT** coated tracks that americans have and yeah you can do it! His 2.0 60ft is indicative of very good launching and thats where the low times come in. Fart around on the line and kiss goodbye to your times.

Plus those timeslips don't lie, I think he posted a scanned timeslip afterwards.

**VHT Traction Control = black super sticky goo that can be found on many a drag strip in america.

We can NEVER get even close to the times the states dudes are doing in New Zealand, our Meremere track closest to Auckland is so slippery it ain't funny :-(
