After many months of searching I finally found the perfect 300zx in the summer, now my work have just decided to give me a company car!

I've had the 300 for about 6 months now and she has stolen my heart, but I can't realistically run two cars - so I'm forced to think with my head and really ought to sell her :(

She's a Black, manual, SWB, T-top, twin turbo with 50K miles (took a long time to find a car with all that lot). Also came over with a 4-5" single exit SS exhaust (not got the tape measure out yet!), Koenig alloys, induction kit (not sure on the make) and full ohlins suspension all round (v. expensive and about the best suspension setup money can buy) - she corners like you wouldn't believe! I also think that there may well have been a few more engine tweaks as this thing simply flies compared to my old Z.

I'm still not definite on selling her, but what do you think she might be worth if I do?

what year?

I believe similar cars are imported for around the 10k mark? being a rare model. At least thats what I was quoted when I was looking for a SWB

I'll give you £200 and a bag of sweeties, but you'll have to deliver.

About the same as the £100,000 Lotus/Lada?

Cheers for the replies...(even if the £100K Lotus/Lada one was a little over my head ;)

AdamR - those better be some damn tasty sweets! :D

She's a 1992 J-plater.

This idea of running the Z as a second car is the one I'm toying with at the moment. I just know that she'll be sat in a garage wasting away most of the time which seems like such a waste.

I know I'll only get her out once a month, so I'll end up paying insurance & tax or a car I don't drive very often. Besides things tend to go wrong if you don't drive them for ages don't they?

Fluxy - Not sure of your age but insurance on 3rd car on a limited miles policy is between £300 - £400, road tax is road tax - but you could SORN it for winter and save £70. Yes things perish if not being used so a weekend blat and the odd pub night should keep her in trim.

I've had funday cars for ages and never have they cost me more than about £500 a year to keep operational. Of course my latest one might cost a bit more but once she's sorted and settled (sounds like a horse) I don't expect big bills just a big grin.

Mundeo or Vectra man you might become during the week but at the weekend...

Lemon sherberts mate... not 'alf!:D :D

you WILL regret it if you sell her, take it from me i sold my last one because i have a company car and i really didnt need the zed but after you drive a boring company car for 2000 miles a week you need something different at the weekends.

It took me 2 months to buy another zed;) dont regret it even though she is in a thousand bits!!

Before you decide, take a good hard look at the amount of tax you pay for having a company car. The vast majority of people are much, much better off running their own car. Company cars are taxed to the hilt and then some.

Cheers - Gio

As mentioned before, a classic policy with limited mileage is pretty cheap.........I am 31 and mine is £250.

Let me know if you want any details. Conditions for that were 30 or over, 2nd car and garaged.

You KNOW you don't want to sell it.

Decided to keep her - already on a limited mileage policy £350 a year.

I know I'd only regret it if I sold her.

I guess it's mundano during the week and smiles at the weekend then! :D

Hurrah! Well played.

Fine..... I'll keep my damn sweeties then!! :D
