when i start my car from cold the revs drop to nearly stalling point and then revs back up. it does this 5-6 times and runs sweet the car never misses a beat no tapping or nocking.

is this a common poblem with zed do i need to put some cleaning agent through the car to clean the injecters ? and fuel.

try cleaning other things first. Like the water sensors. Clean out the throttle bodies, change the air filters or clean it if it is a cone one. Clean the TPS and reset the postition.

Stuart

Throttle Position Sensor.

Not sure what Stuart Means by reset. but I would check it is between .40 and .44 volts.

May want to reset the ECU after you have cleaned all the contacts as well and see how it goes.

i need a bit of help still with this as ive got this week of and i want to get this sorted out.

when started from cold revs go to 2000rpm??? and after a few seconds drop to near stalling point and some times it does cut out. then the revs go back up again ....and up and down and so on.??? this goes like this for about 3mins then runs at between 700-800 rpm and stops there.

this only happens when the engine is cold never when its warm.

help.

my old car used to this i changed the AFM and the problem was cured in ten mins

Could be a number of things. Have you tried running ecu diagnostics? Have you checked the spark plugs? Cleaned the throttle bodies? Checked for air leaks? It sounds like it could possibly be the air regulator - http://www.300zx.co.uk/cgi-bin/manual.cgi?list=efec&dir=&config=&refresh=&direction=forward&scale=0&cycle=off&slide=17&design=default&total=190 - this is located on the back passenger side of the plenum and is a bit of a PITA to get to....
