Actually - a very good idea. Top Banana

Especially now I'm looking for insurance, oh dear.

Although, who has the time to set this up?

Maybe the www.imoc.co.uk will create us our own database that we can link too.

Jez.

Good Idea,

It's a big hassle shopping around for insurance especially if you have modified your car.

While I don't profess to know the ins and out of web databases I know a man who can.

If there is seriously enough interest I'll have a word with him.

Post your thoughts guys

Tim

Yeah, this would be VERY useful.

Andy

Shit, just got my insurance quote from greenflag £1000. They really take the *iss by saying, if you get a better quote somewhere else we will try to match it, so what they mean is we'll bump up the price and make you work hard to get us to reduce it, although we can easily. Which is exactally what happened last year.

START THAT DATABASE!!!!

If I can get it set up it will only work if everyone puts the data in.

lets have a show of hands.

Tim

I have about 10 hands in the air... do it!

(yes, just got my £1000 ins quote in)

£1000 - that ain't s**t.

Out of curiousity, I thought I'd go on the Tesco websit for a quote. I have 3 points from 3 years ago (speeding on a motorway) so they should vanish but the bastards ask for convictions in the last 5 years! I tried a quote with and without the points and they are sticking on another £400 for those points!! WTF!! If I declare the Scorpion exhaust, thats another £250. These people should all be shot. Quote ended up being £1800 - and I consider that to be one of my better quotes!

START THE DATABASE. Better still, lets start our own insurance company, LOL.

Andy

I think its a good idea.

It needs to include driver age, NCB, modifications (to the car, not the driver) and convictions against quotes from different companies. Even if these categories are grouped people should be able to see which are the best companies for them to try.

where do we put our insurence clkaim in mine is a piffling 580 squid. absolute ripoff

I'd love a database!

Hi,

Just use a decent broker...they will do the shopping around for you.'A Plan'are a good example, as they have a 'special vehicles' dept.

The trouble with insurance is it is very hit and miss...you can get a quote one day, and it will have changed the next...depending on the claims that are coming in at any particular time.

If you get a good quote, go for it!...someone else with the same profile may get a more expensive quote the very next day!

JEZ

I agree! Car Insurance along with Bikes is basically a "pull a figure outta the air" game and charge the customer.

For instance, someone told all of us about Firebond...we all went to get a quote and most got a bloody good quote. But try them now, no chance!

Me and AndyP discussed this and he inlightened me into how it basically works. So a database of insurers will be about as much use as a yellow pages...IMHO!

Tim

]-)

What's up with Firebond? Have they run out of policies with highway again? That was the problem last year for me and my renewal is at the beginning of December frown.gif

I'm phoning around for insurance tomorrow. Any where I should not forget. Greenlight is £1000, I'll phone Privilege, Adrian Flux, HHH.

Ta, Jez.

Try People's Choice - they insure, so their advert claims "Any Age, Any Car, Anywhere"

"Hi, I'm 12 and would like to drive a Ferrari. I live in Manchester - oh and I'd like to race this car as well. What's my quote?"

biggrin.gif

Lets do this...

Im having problems with my broker at the moment. It transpires that the complete list of mods I sent him... he kept to himself! When the insurance/underwriters asked him what he'd received from me he said he'd received nothing. This guy has been taking my money for over two years now!

B*ST*RD POND LIFE INSURANCE SCUM BAGS !!

Insurance....try these....

I just got a preliminary quote of £450 tpf+t for a Twin turbo 300zx, this is online, you are then asked to phone up to arrange the policy, more often than not they knock a further 10% off, I had my 97 Ford explorer insured through these people and they beat my cheapest quote by almost £600 quid !! ( direct line wanted £1008 Fully comp...these people did it for £424 fully comp..protected NCB etc.....)

BTW I'm 28 full NCB no points....the downside is that they only insure UK cars that are Standard....

Still good tho'

http://www.quoteline-direct.co.uk

LOL, I just tried Quoteline Direct. Their preliminary quote for me was £2081.94.

25, full ncb, 3pts from 3 years ago(why do they all ask about points from the last 5 years when they are meant to go after 3 years!)

Andy

SSSHHHHHHHHHHHHEEEEEEIT....

Where do you live ? Iraq !!!

I'm not sure, the site says no, but my mate has his 96 import Celica GT4 insured through them, I think they loaded the premium, but not by much, try the online quote gizmo for a start, if it's competative then give them a ring....they will mail you all the details...and there's no obligation.

I've found them to be good from past experience.

Hehe, not Iraq - somewhere FAR worse as far as insurance companies go, Hampstead Garden Suburb (North London).

Across the road from me they have a Lambo, down the road is a Ferrari and there a loads of Porsches/BMWs/Mercs etc. It's a car thief's wet dream round here frown.gif
