I Got One

Hehehehehe:D

Picked up me red zed today, skived off work for a few hours and forgot to go back

Its a 92(K) manual with black leather interior (as my sig says). It has a HKS twin exhaust and boost gauge on the r/h/s pillar pod. The boost goes up to 11psi. Is that normal?

Its too dark to see if its been decatted, etc so I gotta leave it now while weekend. I knocked the guy down from 4k to 3600 with a 1 year car care plan warranty (parts and labour). I knocked him down for a few reasons.

A. The rear spoiler needs replacing. If anyone is selling one and can tell me how to get the old one off and a new one on Im interested.

B. The engine sounds VERY SLIGHTLY tappety. Im not sure what they're meant to sound like but my Supra is quieter than this.

C. Up to 20 mph there seems to be a noise under acceleration from the passenger side wheel. It sounds like a bearing but disappears the minute you go above 25(ish)mph. Could it be the clutch bearing? It had a new clutch fitted at 76,000.

D. Its done 102K miles. Full service history even down to what oil has been used and what date and mileage the guy put it in.

Its bloody quick, I thought my Supra Turbo auto was quick but pulling away this thing is like a rocket. Im sleeping with the window open tonight and one ear and eye open.

Im in love

nice one mate, sounds nice, its also good to hear that it pulls better than a supra. did consider getting a supra before the zed but im glad i went for the zed, wound'nt swap it for anything now!

and i have developed a bad habbit of over taking everything?

see ya mate

Cheers mate, I dont think its the best mechanical Zed round, but look swise body seems pretty mint. Im prepared to throw some dosh at it to get it all sorted tho - I thought rather than buy a Z for 5-6k and still probably have to spend - why not goet one for 3.5-4k and throw money at it - that way I know its a done deal

i know what you mean mate and i agree with you.

i bought mine for 5600 and ive spent about 4000 on mods and 1000 on doing those bits that didnt really need doing but i wanted to do them so i knew there going to be ok.

Hurrah! Beat you by a few days. Yours sounds nice, they are phenomial (sp) cars.

Well enjoy Jason - hope there's not too much wrong!

Rear spoilers can be got from the Z Centre - see Traders section on Forum.

Well enjoy your love life - may you have many happy years together with your beloved ZED.

Geoff.

Go on sell your supra and Mod the Zed :D

Nice one Jason,permanent grin i bet:D wellcome to Z ownership:cool: Tony

Congrats mate!

Stock boost is 9psi. Wonder why yours is high? It's only a little bit high... do you get any wobble?

Are you gonna replace with a stock spoiler or a different one? I've seen a few discussions here to the effect that if you can get hold of a whole new rear door it's simpler to swap it as one.

Noise could be brakes / calipers rubbing? Or something to do with shocks / suspension bits / HICAS... does the camber and tracking look right?

Tappety is probably fair enough in winter on 102k miles! What oil went in for the last change?

I bought mine modded for nearly 5 and I've spent >2 fixing broken mods / baaaad results of broken mods! Loads more to do because I've only had the thing on the road about 2 months out of 6, but it's been running well for 1800 miles now. I think I'm just about ahead of the game because all the expensive mods and the expensive engine work has been done now (except tubs) and it's just gone past 60k. I could have spent an extra grand on a minter but then I'd have to go and buy induction / exhaust / lowering / spoiler / AVC-R / alloys / clutch / flywheel / Clifford and that lot would come to what I've spent on fixing it, AND if it was low mileage I'd have to do the 60k service anyway...
