I wonder if anyone can advise on this.

I tried to use the headlamp washers today (Only had the car 6 months and this is the first time i've used them:D ). Obviously I had the headlamps on, but the washer jets did not work and the windscreen wipers came on instead:confused:

There was no water being squirted from anywhere???

The wash/wipe system works ok, so why not the headlamp washers.

Could it be the relay?

Any ideas??

Thanks

Richard

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Hi Richard

Do the headlight washers only work when lights are on?

Did you find the extra water tank?

Ive had my Z for over two years & I have never checked them!

Hi Arthur,

I believe they are only supposed to work when the lights are on, hence reason I thought the relay may be dead.

I've not looked for the other tank yet, only just read replies.......

The headlight washer jets work off a separate twisty/pushy thing. to the windscreen wipers. I have the same problem. I don't think it maters if the wipers or lights are on as when I press mine, I can see a slight dimming of the dash lights at night for a second or 2 while the relay is running.

However, from what I have noticed, the piping is a bit heavy duty with lots of plastic corners. Ideal spots for shit to build up so I would recommend that you work from the pump end and work your way forward, obviously making sure that the relay is doing its job first.

A) I am sure its is the same water tank.

B) The head light washers only work when the lights are on.

C) Can you hear the motor.?

D) I wouldnt bother becuase the head light washers are usless ;)

The washers work off the same water bottle as the wiper ones.

the wipers are supposed to come on when you use the hl washers. could be the motor connected to the washer bottle or the relay on the drivers side inner wing

I have exactly the same problem. Personally think that its a green relay located behind the nearside passenger wheel arch, but as it dont stop me going fast, then i aint been arsed to mend it yet! ANd its wiggly amp shit and I dont like it!
