Although I hate to say it the Zed is an absolute bargain!

300BHP for £4K:(

What other motors are out there that you can mod up fairly reasonably for little cash!

I heard a rumour that you can take the Poopras up to 500 BHP for about a grand, fact or fiction?

I wouldn't want to have the fastest frog on four wheels though:D

would you choose the fastest frog or the cheapest beauty???

If you want bang for buck then the sunny GTiR is a damn quick car for the cash.

I could fancy buying an old scrapper to play with and abuse then dump when the MOT is out you can get a 2.8i Capri or V12 jag for next to nothing. We should all get one and book a trackday, it would be like a demolition derby :D :D

Now that would be a laugh:D :D

Im way ahead of u lot . Got a golf gti 16v so wants to start a demolition derby. :D

Fas

how about a 2.8 Granada i saw for £65 ono?

slow and barely legal, but 2months tax and mot. demolition derby? :D

I got a gsi cav that id love to smash up in a derby ! The only thing a vauxhall is good for really

i had an astra GTE 16v until the other day but a mate (read fool) came and offered me well over the odds for it. i laughed as i snatched his hand off. lol

seriously though, old 80's/early 90's cars can be a laugh. imagine a track full of sierras, cavaliers, accords, renault 21's, etc.

you can even pick up some half quick stuff like ren 21 tubs, maestro tubs, etc for virtually nothing. even the odd 5 GTT and uno are in for a couple of hundred quid. lets have one.

Wouldnt like to be in a 5 turbo when that got smashed up !! Lethal little motors!

Bring it on

yeah, mine always felt flimsy but i did the decent thing and blew it up before any crashes. :D

how about old dinosaurs like the granny i mentioned? not very quick but it would be funny to see old unwealdy cars weaving all over the track and into one another.

just reading bargain pages at the same time. there's a sierra 2.9i 4x4 for £200 ono !!! :D

i may have found my weapon:rofl:

back to the subject of cheap power cars.... how about the S13 200 SX? 180/200bhp and you can now get a good one for £1500

the other £2500 should take it past a Z. but then you spend £2500 on modding the Z.... bye 200 SX:D

or.... the older supra (i know) turbo? cant remember the power figs but it has to have something about it.

renault 21 turbo...

not that fast but very cheap. can be had for £500. just a shame they are so fragile.

sierra cossie £3000 up but still 220bhp and rear drive:D

or if you are just going for outright power and stuff all else maybe an american? you can buy things with HUGE V8's in for a couple of thousand up and most will see over 300bhp standard. may have probs with weight and/ stopping/turning:eek:

otherwise, buy a bike. lol or a 2.8i sierra and a big nitrous kit. thats should see 400bhp for a short while. lol

and while im rambling, just thought i'd tell you all this is my 100th post;) :D

Hi Siraff

The old Supra is still pretty good for the cash. I had one before my zed. Sold it for £3200 (it was A1 condition, though).

Anyhoo, earlier rougher ones can be got for under £1000 and they are quick. 232bhp. 0-60 in 6.1 and 0-100 in under 16. Very good midrange, way better than 200sx, 3000gto and still enough to take an rx7.

My choice would have to be the old 3000 capri, or maybe 2.8i. Old skool fun car and seriously wayward rear end:dance:

How about the mk2 rs2000?

Bodie & Doyle eat your hearts out:dance:

Richard

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Bodie and Doyle. Ahhh MKIII Capris excellent cars, I would if the boss would'nt totally disown me. Didn't the new CI5 show use a late model 200SX?

On topic: OK so far we've had some great cars to razz around in, but where is the SD1? V8 140BHPish tunable to the umpteen, lovely sound and lashings of fun on the over steer.

Four cylinders are for pussies, unless it's on two wheels in which case I'll get out of your way :p

A knackered old Silvia... big turbo, big injectors, mapped, stripped out, caged, stiffened up with some decent suspension, set of R-compounds... no, hold up - you said budget!... the one I'm thinking of has probably had far too many notes spent on it already.

Used to love my 2.8i Capri ;) Felt quick, even if it wasn't. And made loadz of noise! :D XR4i's are OK for a laff too. Had a stripped / caged Rover SD1 for a while... that old thing was hilarious! Borrowed it off a mate who bought it for a grand (had to drive it back down here from Scotland tho).

Demo derby?! I'd wanna be in a Volvo!

nissan pulsar for a cheap power solution. we got left off the lights by one in my mates tvr chimmera:eek: he was well gutted. for a demolition derby id go for bid nasty volvo estate:D

My mates dad used to have a Mazda 323 turbo 4WD and i was really suprised just how fast it was. I've seen them go for about a grand, or you could have a nissan cherry turbo thats if there not all on the scrap heap.

Distruction derby, I'll be in the Saab 9000 cse turbo. The swede's they haven't got a clue, but they build feckin strong motors.

Rich

you're right there. my brother had one and it was an evil little beast. tried to spin the wheels in third (1.6GTi 'box). :D

great laugh.:)

Mk3 Turbo Supra - great car - you just need a chest wig.

You can get a banger for about £700 or a clean one (like mine

:D ) for about £3000

Power is about 305bhp with current mods.

Yeah, I was behind one of those the other day and I must say, it was quick. It was even giving the Zed a run for it's money , don't know exactly what else was under the hood though!

S13 200SX = 170 BHP for about a Grand ?

What about the TopGear option of an old XJS with Nitrous - great in a straight line and fairly well built (compared to some of the things I've seen listed above anyway!)

..but I was surprised that no-one has mentioned a trusty old Saab 900 Turbo!

I had a few 9000 turbos, which are much heavier, the latest being a 220BHP Carlsson, and that had Porche eating midspeed acceleration that a lot of stock Zeds would be impressed by!

It's true, S13's are fantastic value, RWD too :D
