When I got my Zed 2 years ago you would rarely see one. Just recently though I've seen hundreds of them! Most Jap imports (Square rear number plates are a dead giveaway!) The japs must have few left in the domestic market.

I wonder what the official figures are for these cars now? Must more than were ever officially imported now even after 10 years of smash ups. (Mostly by Steve E!!!) ;-)

Just joined your elite group with the purchase of one such Jap import - a red 1990 na. Its my first Z and my first import and I have to say the quality of the product and the way its been looked after (in Japan) is extraordinary. The whole package still leaves me in awe even after 6 months of ownership. With this on offer at relatively cheap prices (£8k for 48k miles) who can blame a deprived (of decently designed vehicles) public from buying such beautiful vehicles. There is one other point and that is the sudden availability of the non-turbo model. With its much lower technical spec than the tt it makes it a very attractive choice. ie no turbos to knock hell out of all of the components and its built of components that are designed to withstand turbocharging so in the na form they should last well. (wise buy? or what!).

...hope I'm not tempting providence by saying this.

Anyway, its interesting to hear whats happening via the forum.

Just had a thought. Why don't us elite group of Z owners do a group buy on Dukes of Hazzard airhorns !

Just a thought :) I wonder if the insurance companies class that as a de-mod.

Heh, remembered this thread and had to dig it up...

Sorry Simon, but now there's *another* 300 on the road - namely mine =) 1992 import TT, sapphire blue (dark blue, whatever its called). Thanks again for the help given so far, guys - brace yourselves for the new questions that'll probably follow!

I don't mind people digging this thread up, it's the ones where I demonstrate my complete ignorance that are the most embarassing!

Car's got far too complicated after I got rid of the spitfire! Them were the days!

The most import things to do...

Adjust the tappets.

Change the HT leads.

Clean the distributor.

Check the oil level in the dashpot.

Clean the carbs.

It's amazing how crap some cars are. My Spitfire developed a misfire. After much headscratching it turned out to be the heat cowel between the exhaust manifold and carbs went rotten and fell off so that the carbs got hot and the fuel would vaporise!!!!!!!

Can you imagine having such a bloody bodge job on a jap car? If I still had that car I would go to it now and give it a good kicking!
