Fitted the above today using the original calipers and the 314MM Discs off the 3000 GTO

So now I have figured out how to use the digital Camera here sre some pics.

Fitting was quit easy although due to my wheels I had to grind off the word Nissan of the calipers so the wheels would go round

Here's a pic of the new disc versus the standard Brembo Disk

 got the pics the wrong way round

I assume that you put new pads with the disks. Let us know what the overall difference in braking was. Be as precise as you can, if at all possible.

I was thinking the same thing

I think you get a mounting kit with it!

I like the price of that one. So much so, that I'm digging my hand in my wallet at this very moment. Anyone got any feelings on this mod and whether it's a good buy or not?

Well i was gonna get some too, but a little short on funds at the moment, but i need new pads so i may just get some anyway and work out how to pay the credit card co back later lol, just one thing puts me off and thats the need for a 4mm spacer !

I only brought the brackets from the States as the Discs were to expensive to ship , they weigh nearly twice as much as the originals.

Cos , no i didn't as my pads were only 2 months old , covered approx 800 miles

As regards the performance difference , I can't really say yet as you have to bed the disks in for 300 miles , although one thing very noticable already is the lack of brake fade even at low speeds.

As the dics bed in I will let everyone know if this is a worth while upgrade or not , but happy with the first impressions

Before you lot dip your hand in your pockets , I have traced the brackets before fitting and at the moment (hopefully) Vijay is looking to get them reproduced , its a very simple bracket and would not take alot , hopefully these will be about 50% cheaper than the US.

So how much did it all run to for the bits?

I presume the spacer is to stop calipers scraping on the wheels. Is this likely to be necessary for my Oz 18" wheels?

Well if the brackets are cheep and i can get hold of some disks then i'll prolly get some!

The kit from the US without Dics was £105

The disks in the UK were £150 for both made by DBA , although I did have to wait 6 weeks for them

Mike I am pretty sure you will be fine with 18's , I don't like the idea of spacers so just took the angle grinder to the Nissan bit , seems to have worked a treat.

Nice one mate. What wheels do you have on yours? Did they actually foul with the "Nissan" on the calipers or did it just seem a bit close for comfort?

Keep me updated ;)

Mike

They actually fouled the Nissan Word so had to take the calipers back to flush , depending on what wheels you have this may or may not be an issue, I have AZEV's

Chris , will do

hey baggins they looks the mutts nuts,

what model 3000gt are the disks from are they the vr4 model??

do you have the dba disks part number,

do i only need to make new brackets for the calipers or is there more involved

cheers

Hi,

I'm interested on this upgrade for my S13 200SX.

Are the disks the same PCD and Offset as the Z32 Disks?

Is Vijay going to be getting the brackets made?

The discs are the GTO or 3000GT discs from '93 onwards. The problem with these discs is availability. There is only one mould in the world which moves from country to country. Silverfish DBA do make the discs in this size and are quite cheap. EBC have made made one pair of these discs as a prototype, then gave up! I have these discs fitted to my late '92 GTO TT, but mine are Tarox F2000 discs. Tarox make these discs from a single billet, then machine them with the grooves.

If you do go for the conversion, don't use standard Mitsi discs, as they warp like crazy on the GTO, so I would imagine you wouldn't be overly impressed if you upgraded the 300ZX brakes to these and they warped!!!!!

If you have any questions about GTO brake discs please contact me by email or PM, and I'll try to help. Amber performance do club discount on Tarox for the GTOUK club, so it may be worth talking to them. Mine cost about £350 for a pair of discs.
