Sigh,

I've had this guy do this 3 times in the last 2 weeks - in a 30 or a 40 zone comes right up behind me and waits for about 2 seconds then pulls out and goes past me destroying the speed limit - I dont mind that too much as there wasnt anyone in front and I was going my own speed.

Today though - a car 20 yards in front (a nice safe gap for a wet morning road) a car right in front of him, another car and then a big coach....He tries to go for the gap I have. Needless to say half a second after trying his manouvre he was left in the wrong lane looking like a prat as I closed the gap up to a point he would have to go past the lot. He pulled back in and flashed me - it will be interesting to see what he does next time he sees me. I might let him come past next time and blast him off the road :D

I get this a lot on this particular stretch of the A59 and unless they are determined and are prepared to go past the next car as well - they dont my gap.

That and people straight lining roundabouts are my road hates.

is it me, or has this got worse ? No-one gives a stuff about ne1 else nemore it seems :(

every morning I have to turn right onto a busy road - when the traffic from the right has a big gap #I move out, waiting for someone from the other way to flash me and let me in - but hardly any buggers do   :slap:

People undertaking me to pull into a gap in front of me and the car in front of me, they never suceed....

I straight line a few roundabouts around here :) have to if you wanna stay on the road :D

Sorry mate but I don't agree with that, doing that is stupid at best, ok the bloke is driving like an absolute TW@T, what if you forced him into a head on crash with someone going the other way?!

If someone wants to drive faster than you, let them past, no mater how stupid they are.

Not often i do this but I got to agree with Hermy on this one :)

LOL Didn't we have a thread about a similar thing a while back? Speeding up to make a point to someone overtaking riskily - dying right and all that  ;)

I dont mind if there isnt anyone in front of me - if he wants to go faster then thats fine - but he aint having my safety gap so he can do the same stupid thing to the next guy and right in front me of me then.

So you would rather force this TW@T into oncoming traffic than let him infront?

Mike

I know how it can piss you off when twonks carve you up to get into the 'safe' gap you have left, BUT when you see the carnage that I saw this morning it makes you realise that IT REALLY ISN'T WORTH IT :(

That'll slow me down for a couple of days at least.

So then I can drive round and carve evryone up on the road coz I want that 20 foot or 10 foot gap you have mate and if I crash its your fault for not letting me in. I'll remember that on the way home - should knock 5 minutes off my trip.

Yeah you can do that -if you want to be a kn0b, cos thats what we're saying you'd be for doing that. (like the person who did it to you) The point is its not worth closing that gap and making a dangerous situation worse. Say a van one day kept on going to get in the gap that you had shut off, and he wasn't going to give up. An oncoming car wasn't looking or was just searching in the glovebox for something and there was a head on crash, twisted metal and blood everywhere. Would you be sitting smug in your car then? -knowing he didn't get into your gap? (thats the point!)

Blimey, that was a bit sensible for me...........better say something stupid........

........RED is the best colour for a 300. :D

I dont think people are saying its ok to drive like the twat.

Just because he has driven like a twat, it's shouldn't be our immediate reaction to force him off the road or into oncoming traffic. That in my eyes is worse, far worse.

I'm not saying that the TW@T in the Van is driving correctly, far from it, the guy is a complete and utter TW@T, but if he is going to try and overtake you and you accelerate so he cannot get past in the space and goes HEAD ON into oncoming traffic, you will BOTH be responsible for a possible death.

It's not worth it.

From a law point of view, the highway code says that you should assist the driver who is overtaking you, even if that means breaking.

By all means once the driver is past, show you appreciation with an appropriate hand gesture :xxx:

I dont remember mentioning that I forced him into oncoming traffic. I'm not that daft - he had a clear road.

I think everyone has got the point.

Just give them a big :xxx: when they get past :D:D:D

Just thought I'd mention a similar thing I witnessed a few years ago.

A line of cars (me included) were doing 30-40 ish on a 60mph A road behind a slow car. Everyone was overtaking this car in turn as they got the chance. Two cars in front of me was a Porsche, the driver of which didn't have the nerve to pass the slow car when it was his turn.

The transit van behind me got impatient and overtook me and the car in front, pulling in behind the Porsche, who had dropped back leaving a bigger gap from him to the slow car. The Transit driver sees a gap and goes to pass the Porker who the speeds up to close the gap, just as a coach appears from the opposite direction. The Transit driver can't pass the Porsche AND the slow car, nor can he safely brake and pull back in. So to avoid a head on, he swerved into the side of the Porsche.

The Porsche driver was a bit pi55ed off and called the Police. He then told the attending officers what a to55er the van driver was, but when the police took statements from me and the driver in front (we both told exactly what happened) the Porsche driver was charged with causing the accident, since he accelerated preventing the van driver from safely completing his perfectly legal manouver.

The moral, let the impatient drivers pass, ie rather they were in front of you and out of your way;)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

i get this every day at work as i have a fleet of vans for my work when iam out in one of the vans iam not a mad driver and for the record there not white there blue+yellow i will go to over take someone and they put there foot down. this realy winds me up.

we have hows my driving and phone number on the back and we have had no calls complaing about my vans in 5 years but what we do is if someone does this trick by speeding up and puting me and my workers in danger we take the car details and tell the police. so be warned people doing this some van drivers do get there own back.
