anyone know the thread for number plate laws over here, mine is an import and i believe you can fit the smaller plates to these cars without breakin any laws

Featured Replies

If you car is an import you can the same sized number plate on as the country it came from.

ย

So you can have a Japanese sized plate on yours. But everything else must be UK spec, like font, colours, spacing

no no NO!!

ย

legally, if a uk sized plate will PHYSICALLY fit then you have to fit a UK one by law.

ย

whether you do or not is another matter! ;)

It makes no difference what the law says on a jap zed, a UK shaped plate WONT fit on the stock rear anyway.

Yeah, no question there. Its the front that is up for debate. A 'mass' debate you could say Pete.

ย

I will be putting a small plate on my 99 front and will take the risk, a regular size just looks stoopid imho. Flapping about all over the place!

I love that Grill you have. Where can I get one from?.

Chris - that is nice! I'd like to let more air in but haven't seen much I like.

ย

Is it a one-off from PPS?

Kia99 - The panel is mine that I collected from Pete of PPS when we were at Billing so we tried it on Stuarts car. His Stillen panel is on the floor in the pic.

Shrimpster, It was made up from my stock panel by Pete from a few pics I gave him of a Bomex panel.

The original Bomex was going to be about ยฃ300 including 6 weeks delivery from Japan and that's before paint!

Pete did me that one for a few squids!

So the ladies keep telling me ;)

Going back to rear plates for a mo - DVLA will allow you to measure the size you can fit, and order a plate to suit from one of their approved outlets (eg Halfords). Takes about a week but is no bother.

ย

Finished result looks ok too!
