Just got the Z, its a 91 TT 2+2.

Right, the first concern is this speed limiter, Ive read a lot on here about the japs beeping above 62mph, well ours doesnt do that, we were doing 70 on the motorway bringing it back with no beeping. Also ive heard the cruise doesnt work above 62, well ours works fine at 70. So does this mean ours doesnt have the speed limiter? We would have tried taking it over 112 but we didnt knwo if anything was wrong with it so we took it steady. When its on the road im sure it'll get a blast.

Next thing, the speedo only goes to 180km/h what can be done about this, i want 180MPH biggrin.gif

Then, when u fire it up there is a HICAS light on all the time, I dont think it was on when we were driving, but it stays on no matter how long it idles for. Is this a problem?

the pressure guages are in silly measurements, x100mmHg for boost and kg/cm2 for oil, can I just swap these faces for psi ones or are the scales different?

The next part is that the air con blows warm, I think the prob is it just needs regassing, BUT, in the centre console there is a thing looks like a relay or something from the fuse box, could that stop the air con from working right?

AndyP says there is a restrictor on the exhaust, is there a way of killing this madness!!???

OH, regarding the air con, on the tech sec here is says to look for bubbles in an inspection glass, where is the glass, is it the dodgy looking thing near the battery, on a small pipe with a thing looks like a dust cap on it?

there are NO sidelights on the front of it, this seems bazzare, there are the lughts on the back, not on the front though, where do the sidelights go, in the part behind the front indicators?

the last question now, im sure i saw something about oil coolers on jap imports, whats this?

THANKS A LOT PPL, if u can answer all those then u should ge one of those greek gods! biggrin.gif

Japs as standard are restricted to 112mph. The only way of proving if it isn't is to go over that.

I had an HKS speed defenser fitted and then later removed this when I had a JWT ECU upgrade which gets rid of the speed limiter too. Mine went to 180kmh on the speedo too but I had it recalibrated and a MPH sticker fits nicely over the KMH so now it goes up to 180mph.

HICAS light, check the ATM fluid level as it could be low.

I would replace the exhaust with a cat back system suck as an HKS super drager.

Simon 90 tt 2+2

jwt pop upgrade

hks super drager

Well my speedo goes up to 300MPH :P

OK, so it was 300kph originally...

LMAO! Simon mate, you kept that a bit quite didn't you? Not another Super Fagger exhaust, you and Warren should get together and make the perfect pair!

Tim

;-)

Timmy, we agreed ages ago that the best zeds were Auto's in Black and that the best exhaust to get was a Super Drager. QED.

That's the twin 4" pipe job and not the single dustbin job.

Simon

REZPECT!

...hang on a minute here! I'm all confused(doesn't take much eh?) so you're telling me that HKS Super Fagger do a fully manly twin box??? So what happened with Warren then? Did he get his half price or something...LOL???

Don't bother with swapping the gauges, your brain will soon learn to live with it.

IMHO all Z32's are restricted, the Jap Import slightly more so to give extra drivability up to their lower speed limit. The Jap restrictor is in the centre section, just fore of the junction with the rear section. I'm told it can be wellied out with a cold chisel.

You should seriously consider getting an oil cooler for the autobox - they REALLY need a decent one.

The only reason I would want to swop to UK gauges is because the "MPH" sticker in the middle of the speedo is black lettering on a white sticker! Looks stooopid..

Although 300MPH looks impressive wink.gif

IMHO since the stock boost gauge is so innacurate, you are better off getting an after market gauge in units you know (reminds me to fit my SPA digital gauge)..

As for the oil pressure - that doesn't really matter what units it's in, so long as you know where "normal" is on the gauge..

You can see my Super D in the rides section. I included an arse shot to show off the pipes.

It looks nice but the finish is suspect as this is NOT a stainless pipe but the internals are I understand. It's very quiet and not much louder than stock. It frees up airflow enough to make it go vroom though!

I just took the cats off my car, and found restrictors between the cats and the middle section. Looks like a washer welded into the exhaust just behind the flange. I just ground them out with a die grinder.

Can anyone confirm if there's more at the junction with the back boxes ??

so does the exhaust restrictor actually affect performance at all? Anybody else got the answers to my other questions then?

Presume the restrictor does affect performance, wouldn't be much of a restrictor otherwise I suppose !

Seriously though my car feels a lot quicker now - picks up much faster & response is much better. Not sure exactly what made the difference though, as I did a few things at the same time:

Removed Cats

Removed restrictors

Removed burr of ~3mm from outlet on RHS turbo outlet manifold (bit of a surprise that one - was all the way round the outlet)

Fitted Blitz induction kit

there are NO sidelights on the front of it

sidelight.jpg

The sidelights on an import are in with the fog lights.

they are? Howcome they dont come on when u select sidelights then?

They do on mine. They're only poxy little 5w bulbs though. Mine look seriously cooked, yours may have failed.
