I need to get hold of some1 who can compress my original tein springs by about another inch (just the rear ones) i dont know

who to turn 2. B4 u guys say i shouldint thats the only option im left with that or cutting a coil which i dont want 2 do. Or i fork out £600 to replace the rear shocks and springs which i cant afford to do with all my costs that im induring these days.

Guys i need some help any1 who u reckon could help me out let me know preferably in the london area but any ideas will do.

Either that or i hire a FAT MAN to sit in my car all the time. He'll probably eat all of the pies 2 which will cost me more.

The method is known to compress them and then heat them down to give them the shape.

Do we need to ask why you want to do this? Are the springs the wrong ones? If memory serves you can buy coil overs or something similar to manually compress them.

The situation is iv got some Tein type NR rear shocks with tein springs. I need to lower the car more from the back as it sits way to high.

I cant get new springs as they are funny shaped springs (the springs end up to a point at the bottom so only tein do them)

They cant supply me any which will drop the car any lower. So iv been told either cut a coil or compress them.

Coilovers will cost me to much i cant afford to buy them as im looking at £500+ 4 some rears.

I want another inch drop but im stuck to what i can do.

Guys any help please.

Any1 out there who can compress springs for me.

Fas

p.s. im lowering it more for the wide arches. We've cut away the rear arches and with the wide arches on there is to much of a gap.

I don't think you really want to do this unless you only want the car for it's looks as you'll destroy the handling and what ride comfort you have

Oih ulot back to fight club and stop hijacking my thread. :slap:

I'd be surprised if you can get them compressed. I think you'd have to heat them up and they'd probably not be very springy after that.

Doing this is sure to destroy your car as anything other than a posing machine. If you take all the travel out of the back it'll be twitchy as hell.

Well there is nothing i can do as i cant afford the other option. I only want to compress them by an inch so it shouldint be that bad.

Iv had a look at the spring at it looks like it can take another inch without to much headache.

Though no1 seems to be telling me where i can get it done. :(

If I remember waaaay back I think Demon Tweeks used to sell a clamping kit for coils whereby you could adjust them yourself - Dont know if such a things still exists though. They where cheap though.

  • Author

Cheers Bilky im gonna pull out the old demon tweeks catalogue.

Any more ideas guys or people who can compress springs if demon tweeks flop on me.

Fas

Yup try Tweeks for those kits.

Guys is this what u lot where on about.

Let us know so i can get on the blower and order it.

Cheers fas

p.s. are there any down falls for this kit.

Fas, there is place around the corner to me called Croydon Race and Rally and they sell these clamps, but mate the are NOT a very good idea. They are a bit of a bodge tbh.

Its just a thought but standard rear shocks are only £35 and the springs I have all round on mine (AVO) were only about £130 and they are progressive too. See the pic for when I had 18's on with these springs. Its just a thought, you don't seem to have too many options.

(edit) Just looked at that pic you have attached, that isn't what I thought you meant. What I thought you meant is alot worse than that!

  • Author

James not trying to look stupid here but what are progressive springs. ;)

The more load you put on them (on a bend etc) -the more they progressively stiffen. They are loads better than standard rate springs. The ride on my AVO's is perfect too and the car sits spot on (for me anyway! not too hard but nice and firm) Jeff had got the shocks in for me and ended up putting the springs on - he said it was the nicest sitting Z he's seen and wanted some.

I forget now but someone on here can get AVO springs for about £80! I can look up some old posts if you wanted. Let me know bud.

Or search on 'AVO SPRINGS' and sure it will come up.

Ok but id rather buy some aftermarket shocks but will those springs give a 80mm drop. Thats what i need to know.

The fronts are fine.

Fas

How long have your springs been fitted?

My Z and a couple of others I've seen took about a month to settle to their final position.

If you drop it too low and it sinks further you'll really be in the ****.

They came with the car so it means theyve been on for ages

80mm? No, not that much, these were the biggest drop springs I could find though. MJP do made to measure springs. You can specify the drop and the % in upratedness. They are not progressive though but still a good price.
