hmm, is there big clouds of smoke or is it just a little tinge in the air?

Don`t give up on it. When there good there fookin excellent, but when there bad their a pain in the arse.

cheerz, mickey

If you had blue smoke every time your turbos are going then you have a problem. But with cold weather at the moment when you stop you can get some steam coming out of the exhausts and that isn't a problem.

Geoff.

no its every time when i give it a bit of stick and park up it starts to smoke quiet abit but not clouds of it from the left exhaust what could it be......

hi guys anymore ideas before i spend alot more money ....to get the turbos done i checked the air filters and it was black...

and sorry forgot to mention i checked the oil level and it is over the h mark up to the thin line ...

mine was doing the same thing but it didnt matter whether you thrashed it and it was out the left bank but it has completely gone away and rectified itself i think it may have been a temp block in one of the breathers hth

how much was it smoking did it smell of oil...

and have u got anyones phone number that can help me out with this problem thanx alot........

we r having the same trouble the man at s e nissan said its our breather pipe but now ours is also back fireing when u push !!!!

hi guys done the pcv valve today and the smoke seems to have dissapeared only driven a few miles not certen but looks very promising the pcv valve was clogged up also u could blow through it both ways i cleaned mine with spirit and i blew it and one side was sealed and the other u could blow through hope this helps ........

no i never is it important to change them if they are i will thanx vijay

yeah, the 2 at the front have what looks like small pipe cleaners inside them - some sort of filter I would guess.

Vijay

CAN I JUST REPLACE THE PIPE OR TAKE THE FILTER OUT AND CLEAN IT OR PUT IT A NEW PIPE.....

I've not heard of anyone removing the filter, I changed the the complete pipes.......................

HI GUYS I DONT WANT TO SAY THIS BUT THE SMOKE IS BACK AND SOMETIMES IT COMES FROM THE RIGHT EXORSH AND SOME TIMES THE LEFT THAT MAKES ME THINK THAT IT MAY NOT BE TURBOS PLEASE HELP I DONT WANT TO GET RIPPED OF BY SYLVIA ENGINEERING THE CAR RUN GREAT ONLY SMOKES ON IDLE AND THEN GOES HELLLLLPPPPPPP ..........THANX

I had 90 TT about 6 years ago and it did exactly the same thing. After driving and letting it idle it let out white and blue smoke, this gradually got worse and became evident when driving along as well. It was only from one bank to start ( cant remember which ) but got worse.

Basically it was the turbo seals ( had 80,000 on the clock ). If it smokes blue and smokes often get it sorted before they shatter. The place that sorted mine said the one side was far worse than the other.

The other problem with the oil getting through is it ruins the cats and mine just fell apart after.

I had the exisitng units rebuilt and uprated cost about £500 I think but the removal and refit is the expensive bit.

If it smells of oil and keeps smoking it it sounds pretty much like the seals to me from past experience.

thanx very much thats what i had thought but i rang sylvia engineering because it was them that replaced the turbos and said that the turbos they recondition dont go wrong often the fitted the turbos about a year and a bit ago but i still think its the turbo but they dont any ideas please help they think its pressure building up in the engine and letting get through the turbo rear seals and the breather system ....

I can only suggest getting someone to look at it. ( sounds like jeff at zedworld is the man )

My old one drove fine and had full boost but gradually the smoking got worse. If you had the turbos reconditioned it seems odd but not impossible for them to go again. I sold my about 8 months after i had them done, about 7k miles and there were no signs of problems. iI had them uprated and was warned that they may not last that long.

how old were your turbos when they started to smoke and how bad did the smoking get and how long did it take to get realy bad ....thanx

car had 80k on the clock or so. was about 7 yrs old. I had the thing sorted out within about 3 weeks of it starting to smoke.

hi guys took the car to sylvia engineering today and had the car checked over and they found the problem after doing some tests they said that the vacum system is blocked so i have to replace most of the breather pipes and they said that would definatly sort it .........thanx for all the help
