Yeah, but if you were one of those people who have paid and not claimed the money back, then that means that you thought you were speeding, which probably means that you do speed with some degree of regularity, so you should probably cough up now and again anyway!

 

I feel sorry for those that lost their licences as a result though - I once built up and impressive 13 points and then got stopped again for alledged speeding, but when I told the judge I knew exactly how fast I was going cos I knew I'd lose my licence for sure if I was speeding - he let me off!

IMO I think that's *****cks. Anyone could easily think that they've tripped a camera even if they haven't. All you need is to be distracted for a second or two or be tired or have your mind on other things or have someone talking to you. Speed limits in villages go from 40 to 30 then back to 40, you have to have eyes like a shite hawk. Road works can catch you out too.

 

I think these speed cameras are ok in principle but in practice they cause other problems.

I was driving through Blackpool the other day & I kept shitting myself in case I was going too fast which resulted in me stamping on the brakes even when I didn't need to. It turns people into nervous drivers.

Heard on the radio at lunch time that someone parked in the NEC and purchased a valid ticket, displayed it in their car and returned within their allocated time only to find a Fine notice on their windscreen.

 

The heinous crime they'd committed?

 

 

 

The ticket was upside down. £30 please.

 

 

 

Fortunately they rang the NEC who rescinded the fine, but even so... :rolleyes:

I agree - you watch the speedo more than the road - quite dangerous sometimes. The speed camera are always in a 'difficult' spot to drive through - hardly ever on a straight piece of road - always a corner or at the top or bottom of a hill.

Or hidden behind signposts / trees.
