could some one tell me how this heater system works or supposed to as mine seems to have a mind of its own.

start up first thing its a cold morning so i press auto

put temp up to full heat which is 40 c after car as done a couple a miles the fan springs in to life full speed but its not that hot so i press low speed which works ok, thing is nothing comes out of centre vents how do i get them to work there is no button for this?

anyway i play around with the setting on temp and take it down from 40c to 22c next thing hot air comes out of centre vents and not on windscreen. Anyway i leave these settings as they are stop engine then come back to it and start up again the fan decides to go full speed again, if this is climate control ya can keep it if its a problem can it be sorted.

I's not a problem..the Zed has an computer controlled climate control system.

On the series 1 Zeds there's not much you can adjust about it.

 

Series 2 Zeds have more options to have control over the climate control.

The auto control means what ever temp you set will be the cars objective. However the priority is to get the engine up to temperature first. Only then does it come on suddenly and start pumping heat into the car. Otherwise the engine warm up would take much longer to achieve. Turn on your bum warmers instead!

 

If you keep moving the target it will change priorities, fan speed etc and whether footwell or windscreen ducts open etc to get what you've set it to.

 

Also remember when you set it to auto you are on "aircon on" as well so the chiller part is running to de humidify the air. If its not raining or damp you will get a faster warm up inside the car by switching to econ so that the aircon compressor is cancelled. You will also save fuel! Mines has been set to 23 and left there for as long as I can remember.

 

Aircon should be run on auto regularly through the winter, say once a week, to keep the lub pumped around the aircon components - especially the compressor moving parts. Otherwise they can seize.

kmh - i was gonna post same question! Mine is exactly the same, blows loads in the footwells but not always from the centre vents, dont think it blows on the windscreen tho without hitting the demist button.

Still dont understand why switching to econ makes it steam up even when its set to fresh air - it does tho, i thought only recirc would steam you up.
