Has anyone had any dealings with this insurance company?.

I have been looking at re insuring the Z and they have come up the cheapest by a long way.

Glynn, I was insured with them ... I've got mixed feelings. Some things to consider though.

Give me a bell if you want to discuss, I'm in all evening.

CheerZ,

JB. :D

Cheers John.

Alarm bells start ringing when something is so much cheaper than the competitors.

Can you Email me your number as I have mislaid my mobile.

Been with them 3 years as i was able to apply max ncb to the zed and my other car. No claims fortunately

They do lump on the costs with mods tho.

Intake +£35

Exhaust + £35

Wheels etc

Uprated chip +£250

My Bell Direct insurance (no mods, full ncb, J import):

Nov 00 - £762

Nov 01 - £818

They do not guarantee a replacement car despite charging the insurance premium for one. I complained about this and they said "tough"

When I put a Mongoose s/s exhaust on, they charged £19 for 5 months (approx £45 per year). What's worse, they then excluded the exhaust from the cover - but only after I had paid the extra premium. So you pay extra because you have a modification but the modification is not covered? Sharks.

I complained and got no answer.

Nov 02 quote - £919 so round objects to that. You can take your policy and snotty attitude to imports / mods and shove it.

Been very happy with Bell for a couple of years, but they won't insure my Zed as they said they don't insure cars with Chip upgrades.

Been with Greenlight for the last two years, and they're pretty good. Got my Zed and S13 (both modded) insured with these guys. They offer a second car discount but not the NCB match that Bell do. One part I did miss leaving Bell :(

I was insured with them on my supra 4 years ago then switched.

I have just gone back to them with my Zed as they gave me one of the lowest quotes (not quite the lowest, but the XS was lower and they insured my wife - who's 5 years younger then me - at no extra cost). I thought £487 for an everyday user, with an induction kit and different wheels was pretty good.

If they hike up the price next year (as with Gio) I will switch to someone else:D

They are pretty big as they are part of Admiral/Elephant group and they will guarantee the courtesy car if you have a UK Zed, but not for imports.

Just make sure you read the terms and conditions and that all mods are quoted for:)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Well they quoted for me. Also I have full business use on both cars. My 4th year renewal is due soon. I didnt go with the chip however.

Most insurers take extra premiums for add ons like wheels and custom exhausts but dont cover them for being damaged or knicked. They claim the car is made more knickable because of said widgets - hence increase on premium.

Seems to me they can't make up their fooking minds

I'd been with them about 4 years, and then when I got the current Z, they decided they wouldn't cover it 'cos I had an induction kit FFS ... they claimed it would make it more liable to be stolen ..

How? I replied, you can't see it 'til you've broken in ..

I did complain about this, but they didn't want to know .. so nuts to 'em .. :D

Don't you just love it when two different enquiries get two different repsonses from the same insurer, but it seems to happen a lot - more top UK customer service. :(

I used to be with Bell on another car, but when they quoted for the Z (import) they were way too high, about 800 quid , that's nearly twice as much as i pay now!

Thanks for all your replies.

Actually quite please with my Bell renewal this morning - £370. Strange thing is the zed is cheaper than my other car a Rover by £5. Same 10k miles a year and same business use. Must mean Rovers are more dangerous than zeds! Well 210bhp thru front wheels it might be.

I am currently paying just under a grand for my policy

Direct line

29, 5yrs NCB, Cat 1 imoboliser, Tracker, No points.

J Spec, No mods, Everyday driver, 10000k p/a.

I just feel that is a bit steep compaired to the quotes you guys are getting.

Waiting for a quote from Easysure.

Just had an Email back from lifesure stating they cant insure my veichle, even though Gio seems to have managed it!?. WTF?

Age, perhaps - the AON / RSA policy is actually a Classic car policy and is only available to over (I forget - 35?) a certain age.

I just got my renewal in the post from Lifesure yesterday so they're still doing Zs.
