I am going to be using the NA aircon fan with the TT aircon system!

The fan is only a one speed fan that is due to be activated at certain temp. I believe the temp at which the fan is activated is governed by the ECU, and I will be using a TT ecu. I believe on the tt ECU it activates the fan at approx 90degrees, so am I right in assuming that this is the point at which the fan will kick in?

You need to check page EF & EC-31. HA-111 and HA-134 might also be useful.

The TT aircon fan is a 2 speed unit and the NA is only single speed.

The activation temps depend on Aircon on/off, speed above or below 25mph.

All these combinations are given in EF & EC-31. There's so many of them, forgive me for not retyping!

PS that's why the TTs have a sub-fan relay and the NAs don't - it's to select between Low / High which NAs don't do.

I don't know whether the fan is different TT to NA or if it's just the sub-fan relay which makes the difference.

Cheers Gio,

Will have a peruse of the manual, the fans look the same just with a different plug on the end!

Are we talking about the aux fan in front of the condenser, or the blower for the aircon here?

The auxillary fan in front of the condensor, you coming to Slough meet Jock!

That would imply that if you wanted to use the TT fan, you would need the loom for the TT which is compatible with the sub-fan relay. Which has a different socket for the fan than the NA version (according to you).

Is the fan itself different in the motor windings to cope with the two different speeds? NFI, mate - good luck finding out!

As a non-techy, it strikes me that the TT engine will put more thermal stress into the cooling system than the NA. Therefore, you would need to upgrade your cooling system to at least as good as the TT: 2 speed fan, sub-fan relay, TT wiring etc etc.

But I remember you are doing a lot with intercoolers et al so you might be able to get away with it. As I said, good luck!

Cheers - Gio

Have talked to some people in the same position as me and have used the NA fan with no problems!

To be truthful I was thinking of upgrading the fan as some people in Japan have done this! It might be more able to cope with London Traffic Jams then:mad:

hadnt noticed the slough meet mate, as it was on the calendar, but then again nothing is (as secretary, who is responsible for updating that?)

Now that i have noticed it, it seems like a good day out, hopefully will have some more shiny bits on the car, and if the hardpipes arrive, may even have the NOS fitted .lol
