Sometimes I get a funny buzzing sound from behind the plastic cover on the roof where your courtesy lights are.It sounds more like an electric/speaker buzz than a rattle.

Behind the cover is an electrical thingy with a little capacitor on the front .

Does anyone know what it is or whats making the noise. It only happens now and then.

Thanks

Paul...

If it's near the front lights, not the center lights it's probably a little fan in there around an internal temp sensor.

Yeah as Jez said there is a small fan in the Map light pod area, It can get pissy over time so best thing to do is take the cover off and locate said fan and give it a good lube. Failing that its new fan time, cant be too expensive , but knowing nissan, about 20 grand would sound reasonable ;0) j/k

Yes it is the fan but I havent done anything about it yet.I stuck my finger into it and stopped the thing turning and the noise stopped but I was driving at the time so I didnt get a proper look..

Paul..

yes, probably best to concentrate on the road!

i will look at mine this evening then.

cheers

Buzzing is the little fan in the roof as everyone says. Its for the aircon etc and samples the cabin temp. I took mine down, thorughly sprayed it with WD40, and put it back up. Still buzzed. Then a couple days later it went quite and has been since. Maybe the oil took time to penetrate. try it.
