Right from what I inderstand to get 370BHP you need an induction Kit, Exhaust, Boost upgrade and a chip. What PSI do you need to be running?

What are the next stages from there on?

Hi Chris

The next stage is how bigs your wallet??

It depends on how many horses you want if you want megga horses then you need to upgrade your intercoolers, turbos, fueling, pistons (talking point at the moment ;) ) improving the cooling of the car, braking (you want to stop i presume) de-catt pipe, boost controller and increased boost...cant think of anything else :D

Like i say it all depends on how far you want to go if its just a reasonable amount then boost controller and new tubs to handle the extra PSI should break the 400 mark quite easily.

Cheers

Kirbz

Kirbz,

whilst I agree with the sentiment about upgrading the tubs, surely you can get 400BHP on stock ones with increased boost?? (So long as you accept that they won't last forever and are going to need replacing one day).

I think my own upgrade ambitions are like many forum users;- ie I don't want to have to contemplate an engine re-build every weekend, and I don't really want to get into new turbos and intercoolers just yet! But I would like to get the best out of the car with relatively modest expenditure.

So,

supposing that everything is working as it should, I understand that a reasonable stage to aim for would be:-

Induction

ECU chip

Exhaust

Boost controller

(then some money on suspension and brakes would also be adviseable!)

Then depending what boost level you're running, I suspect that 380 - 420 BHP would be a reasonable assesment?

What do you all think?

Nigel,

Looking at the figures from the rolling road day alot of people were running

Intake

Exhaust

ECU

Boost contoller-Jets

Most people were only getting 310-340 BHP

As we know the highest BHP of the day was only 393 BHP and the people getting up near that figure all had serious mods

So is 400BHP really achievable on the mods listed above

DaveW ran 359?bhp with boost controller, chip, induction decat and zorst, running at 1.28 bar - that is really pushing the limits for a 300's turbo's. I would imagine at much past 1.3 they'd either pop or justblow air that was so hot you'd make less power....

What I fail to understand is that Adam R has got some serious mods and managed 368bhp ....

Surely it should have been well over 400

I think Adam was just as suprised

Also something else a little odd is that Stuart SMW1 managed

335 at 9psi with little more than induction and exhaust:confused:

Actually, considering everything that went wrong with my car on the way down, I was surprised it ran at all !!

What was his rwhp?

I think that SE cars had a different formula for drivetrain loss to the rest of us:eek: ;) :p

Hit the nail on the head  :D

I wasnt there so its difficult for me to comment on the rolling road but in my oppinion it sounds like either the rr was faulty or someone was getting something very wrong, i find it very hard to believe that no one broke the 400 mark especially as there were some decent cars there

With regards to tuning nigel i agree thats why i said you have to sit down and decide just how far you want to go if 400 is fine then standard tubs will work but if your looking to go further then its going to be more cost effective to only take you engine out once and do everything rather than going to a certain stage and spend a decent amount of money then decide to go further and have the cost of taking the bits off again.

I spoke to the RR guys there at the time about the fact that a few people were disappointed. They were adamant it was accurate (just been tested etc...) and went so far as to say other RR places sometimes overstated BHP figures.

Dunno tho

Ok so mine was 22 bhp down on yours but then I have spent 10k less than you :xxx: :hyper:

i thought the rolling road figures were flywheel figures - not rear wheel - anyone confirm this??

Regards,

Alex

The wheel figures flash up on the big machine in real time, and are plotted on the graph.

The max flywheel fig is printed on the graph, as well as the plot.

Pete

So are the figures you guys are all quoting for wheels or flywheel then?

And does anyone else want to get in on this?

Who reckons they have an accurate BHP figure for their baby?

I didnt mean to start a fight though. LOL

i'm no expert - but they do look a bit low for flywheel figures.

did the rollers have a parking break left on or something :D
