Hi all,

 

I have a 300ZX 1989 Jap import TT AUTO. I bought the car without an engine (as it is unbelievably good condition and very low mileage) and had my uprated engine from another TT fitted. All was OK until the gargage took the beast out for it's final test drive. They found that the car ran perfectly except it wouldn't go into top gear? 1-2-3 were perfect. The garage decided that it was a gearbox problem and installed another AUTO box. It seemed to fix the problem but 10 days later, while in top gear on the m-way the car revved out. I took my foot of the gas and coasted down to about 30 MPH. When I put my foot back onthe accelerator it was ok.... until I found out that once again top gear was missing!!

 

I've been in touch with the local AUTO specialist and they thing it extremely unlikely that two different boxes would have the same identical problem.

 

My questions.... Has anybody ever experienced anything like this? What could it be ? And .... HELP!!

My autobox 'revved out' while running at Santa Pod, Icoasted down to a standstill like the clutch wasn't engaging. I fixed it by reconnecting the Autobox ECU connectors.

 

I doubt the garage would have missed something that - but it might be a wiring/electric prob somewhere?

I think your right pete, sounds electrical or software problem.

Could be something wrong inside (maybe corrosion) the connecting plugs

Have you checked for any error codes on a diagnostics?

 

Have to agree with Pete and Mickey....more than likely electrical than mechanical.

Does your "power" light ,

on dash board come on :-1/when you accelerate hard ,,,2/ when you switch it on on the console,,,,, because you won`t get forth gear when power light is on , it holds the transmission in third.....jap spec......just a thought....
