Hello im new!!

i currentley own a 2.2 vtec prelude and im thinking about getting a tt manual 300zx and have a few questions

basicly my main worries are that its going to cost a fortune if it goes wrong? are they very tempromental?

i just want the pros and cons too owning one and what the best one to go for is etc.

i should have about £4500 £5000 to spend

what years were they made? my prelude is a 95 face lift model with a few extras they others didnt have was there something like that on the 300zx?

cheers in advance for your help

What the hell do you plan to do with it? Rally it?

It's like any car, you look after it, it will pay you back...

Stop making excuses and buy one!!! :D

Cheers

Ben

I've had mine for 7 years and the only time it has let me down was when the PTU went a few years back. Spoke to my Nissan dealer, told them the symptoms over the phone and the mechanic identified it immediately saying that it was "one of the few things that go on ZXs" A couple of hundred quid to replace it and no problems since :D :D :D

Some people on here have had problems after the car has been badly modded (sometimes by a previous owner). As long as you are careful then you shouldn't buy a shed... It's like any used car - there are good and bad ones out there.

Cheerz

Steve

BTW Where are you based? Maybe someone on here can give you a ride in their pride and joy? :D

PS. I no longer recommend Nissan Main Dealers for 300ZX maintenance ;)

theres nothing wrong with the preludes but its not really much of an achivement to beat one in a 300zx TT to be fair is it? the power diffrence is pretty big but if you thought he was going to pass you then it couldnt have been doing to bad.

I'd never driven a 300zx before i bought mine, though i love driving the 200sx....

bought the zed, drove it home that was it.... :D

hooked simple really:bow:

listen mr honda the only reason the prelude got anywhere near me was i m in the middle lane of the m6 getting a load of grief off the mrs sitting at about 70 mph when this prelude pratt comes screaming up the side of me with his blue washer jets and his nikey pikey cap. at that speed in a zed if you floor IN 5TH GEAR you get a couple of seconds of lag befor the turbos spool up. i dident change down cos i dident need to if i had i would have instantley destroyed him. so i floored it and by the time he got level with me the turbos had spun up THEN HE GOT LEFT BIG STYLE:rofl:     MY CAR BY THE WAY IS STANDARD NO MODS if it had been one of the other lads with the tuned and modded cars he would most likley got sucked into the turbos:D

cool where they blue washer jets?

Projectprelude - You got E-Mail.

Nice one Stevexxx,,,,, i`ve only had my z32 since July and its the best car i`ve owned .I`ve spent money on small repairs and now a few mods but after a dice with a red ferarr,,ferar ,,,oh *****cks you know what car i mean,,,, ,we reached frightening speeds and i was still with him on the M40 Nr watlington and in the end he turned off ,,,,and he was trying ,by the puffs of smoke comming from his exhausts as he changed gear , you could see he was up for it ........so Mr prelude if you want a real car ,join us and you won`t stop grinning , every outing, will have a story to tell ,, other wise stick to the prelude and keep modding for that power ,which comes as std with a zx32,,,,along with Twin intercoolers,,,twin turbo`s ,variable valve timing ,,,(didn`t honda copy that) and an ECU that remapps it self after modifcations and ,,,, well if that hasn`t got you interested ,,forget it !!

Drive one ,you`ll see,,you`ll see..........Z-t shirt and pJ`s and a mug, oh and a z key ring and ,and,,, :slap: ,,,,,uhm,,i`m ok now!!

wanting to own a z should not be a practical decision, it should be a dream a passion, i just got mine 6 weeks ago, i had always had performance cars inc a 2.2vtecbut all the time waiting for the z, as you can see i live in ireland wehere there were only 15 300zx cars sold in the country from new, it took me 6 months to get the one i wanted, manual, tt, 2+2 red, i bought it over the phone from the u.k. sight unseen and shipped it over it is a babe, if i thought about costs of maintenence etc. i would have never done it . p.s. not that it matters i am a woman the wrong side of 40. youve tried the rest now drive the best.

zeds rock baby:tongue:

Hey Tulip , that has got to be a beautiful picture ,a red zed32 2+2 and you ,man i dreaming now

And baby 40+ is good , age is just a number its whats inside that counts !!!!!,,,A ZMEN!!

You hum a song son , i`ll play it:rofl:

come back luke

iv decided to restrict my car to half its normal power. i also fancy making it more boring and square and jacking up the back end and fitting a big red brakelight on the axle and thin wheels and BLUE WASHER JETS and massive dice and a really loud sterio with all the cheapest components to make it distort as long as it blurs the mirror i dont care i also want a stupidley loud exhaust hacked off a transit van fitted.then i want stickers. more stickers than you have ever seen plastered all over the car andi want 2 armchairs nicked from the local oap home and some lino fitted inside.......HANG ON A BIT I THINK ILL SAVE TIME AND BUY A STANDARD PRELUDE ALL THE MODS ARE DONE FOR ME

MMMUUUWWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA:rofl:   :D

Erm, can anyone tell me where I can find some blue washer jets please?

They sound really nice!

You really don't like Preulde's do you Steve!!!!!

I like Preludes :) , not the newer shape tho. Wouldn't mind one as a daily driver.

Stereotypical Jap-look, which I like, and its supposed to handle v nicely, and the 2.2 Vtec has a bit of umph too.
