Anyone know how to get window tints off.

Jap who had my car decided a 300zx van would look good and blacked out the rear quarters and screen.

Yeah, but these are nearly totally black. Makes reversing at night a bit entertaining.

my old import was the same

i might be wrong but i thought thats how they were.

I have a 1990 TT import and mine are clear. I think it is a popular mod in Japan or maybe a factory fitted option.

John, I think they come off similar to stickers, with a hairdryer, but be careful with the rear one you dont want to take the heater off with it.

Mine came plastered with them too on the back window with a tacky great big golden 300ZX in the middle!!!

 

As mentioned before use a hairdryier to soften the film then peel off, if it leaves sticky residue all over this should normally come off with white spirit, if like mine, white spirit won't touch it!!! cellulose thinners will!! but be extremely carefull not to spill/wipe this over anything but the glass!! as it melts/discolours some plastics and may damage paint (although it technically shouldn't as it generally won't damage 2pach paints)

Cheers Paul, I'll give it a go.

Mine had a crap tint on the rear window, prob not was a factory job. But I had to remove it, I tried all the remedies, amonia, amonia mixed with sugar soap, in the end it was down to removing with a razor blade tool. Which is why I am now without a defroster, I will have to get a second hand back window fitted.
