fitting new clutch hose today, took it off the slave cylinder no problem, but I've rounded the nut on the other end trying to get it off!!. I've soaked it with WD40 for now and I'm gonna watch the F1, so hopefully it might come off later.

Any advise?

Or should I just put it all back together with original hose and take it to a garage....

Ok Nut is totally fu$$ed. I've re-attached the original hose and will bleed so at least I can drive again.

Long term though, what's the best way to remove a rounded nut, and is it attached to the metal line coing from the box with lines to master cylinder and bonnet bleed point.

If so will I need to get another one from AndyZ

Cheers guys!!

I always find that, if all else fails, a pair of right sized mole-grips, put on REALLY tight, normally do the job. Combined with some penetration oil. But you have to be REAL CAREFUL!!!

Ok, so when i get the SOB off it's gonna be knackered:slap: Is it just the bolt that needs replacing or is it attached to the metal pipe.

Just wondering so I can get everything I need off of AndyZ before I start ;)

why not just file down the sides so you can get an open ended spanner on it??

Get a six point socket or one of the 4wd ones - they will shift most things.

And btw WD40 is useless as a penetrating oil - it's a water dispersant. Use the real thing like Plus Gas.

Deffo use plusgas!!! Its in a league of its own compared to the likes of WD40 - which DOES make stuff rust :D

Re mole grips - yes they will get a rounded nut out. However, the nut on the clutch line will be brass so very soft - clamp too hard and you'll distort its shape and jam it in the thread. These nuts are known to be a pita - just the same as brake lines. If you want to use mole grips, get the ones with rounded jaws as opposed to straight jaws so it 'wraps' around the nut and spreads the load, reducing the chance of distortion...

To replace the nut, cut the flared end off the pipe, the nut will drop off the end. Go to any motor factors, they should sell new brass ends. You will need a brake line flaring kit to redo the flared end once the new nut is on.
